definitely like the fairings, and the sv's are a little weird to me,oh, are there any other places to keep an eye on other than craigslist and ebay?
11/27/2007 11:35:16 PM
you really cant use 'comfy' and gixxer in the same sentance.not saying they are bad bikes at all, but comfy they sure as hell arentpersonally i like vfr's....nothing like a V4

^^^^orly? have you moved on to bike magazines now? there's nothing comfortable about a naked bike at speeds over 60mph, i don't care what it is. even if the riding position is nice, you're constantly fighting the wind. at least on a contemporary sport model with its minimal fairings/screen, you can tuck in. there's nowhere to hide on a naked/street fighter style, especially if you're a person of any stature.the only thing close to "comfy" in a crotch rocket is going to be an f4/f4i honda. even that's going to be a stretch from a shadow. have you considered a sport/touring type? that may be better if cruising in comfort is a real concern.[Edited on November 28, 2007 at 12:24 AM. Actually he's right... i still don't know dick about bikes but i've sat on a few and i'd rather have no fairings with a closed faced helmet then fairings and a fucked up back bBiit thats just my opinioni also know that no bike is very comfy when you can't stay on top of it...hey bbr... did you work for Bike Zone too ? Or maybe it was Western Bike ?

hell just go with a busaseriously though, i'd reccomend a yzf600, or f4, i'm 6'1" and both are fairly comfortable to ride, and you can get a v-stream windsheild for both for a little more wind protection, i'd definately reccomend a custom seat for extended riding, but nothing can really compare to a super sport touring for the best of both worlds, i love my fjr, but dad's new concours 14 is just incredible[Edited on November 28, 2007 at 9:56 AM. i was just about ^ to comment on how i had found a helpful and less-than-infantile wing of wolfweb.you can tell a lot about how comfy a bike is just by sitting on itwhat are the sport touring bikes i.e. make, model?
11/28/2007 11:01:28 AM
yzf600 was my first bike and as already stated, as comfortable as you're probably going to get in the class of "crotch rockets"

^ no where close to his price range. VFR-750 is the best of all worlds and might be found in your price range. I've had both a naked bike (Gs500) and a bike with fairings (600rr), and even though the gs was way more comfortable around town, highway speeds suck bad even with proper closed helmet and jacket. The wind makes you work to stay in position. The rr doesn't have the best wind protection, but you could crouch down and take a break from getting battered.coming from a cruiser, you already have experience with the wind and its suckyness, so that's your call. Bottom line is if you are just around town, it doesn't matter at all. Get whatever strikes your fancy in your price range. Just remember, a comfy sportbike is a oxymoron. I have never ridden a VFR-750, but I'd imagine that would be about what you are looking for. Might want to check them out.
11/28/2007 1:13:26 PM
If comfy what you are looking at, don't get a 600RR...
11/28/2007 1:50:28 PM
no one said anything about a 600rr as an option
11/28/2007 3:24:37 PM
If I could afford a VFR, I'd be all over it like stink on rice....I mean shit.I've had a bunch of friends who've had 'em and love 'em. They aren't mean-ass powerhouses, but are an excellent combination of sport and touring. The older ones (ALL carb'ed VFR bikes) are a real bitch to work on (HATE doing the carbs), but they are rock solid and shouldn't require any more but the basics as far as maintenance goes. What I want to know is this: do the new ones use chain-driven cams or are they gears. The newest ones, btw, are fuel injected. I now need to go spank off thinking about it.

^ super magna engine ftw, i miss that bike

fuck it im outta hiding on this post.naked bikes are not bad. and it's about 90+mph that no fairing gets annoying. but that is up to personal preference. I don't ride a bike because it's comfy. i ride it because it's cheap fun.it also depends upon what kind of riding you will be doing and what kind of rider you are.you're working with 2-3k so you don't have many options. most likely it's going to end up being carb'd unless you can go ahead and find yourself a wrecked bike.the most comfy 600's that I have found have been cbr f2/3/4 series (the f4i's with the split up seat are not comfy, almost as bad as a 600rr) and ninja zzr600's, and gsxrs.my r6 wasn't bad. My 600rr was, but that's not what you get them for anyway.if you think because you came from a 750 vtwin cruiser you are ready for a liter bike then you are wrong. a 600cc sport bike would walk all over a 750 shadow. besides it's always more fun to run a smaller cc or slower sport bike and stomp all over ppl with their big bore bikes that never really learned how to ride them.a v twin and a i4 are 2 different worlds. are you a lazy shifter do you like riding a thumper? or do you like winding a bike out to 15k rpms? i4's tend to be extremely peaky and many bitch a pain around town (i disagree on that point tho).have you ridden any other bikes? do your buddies have any? will they let you take it for a spin? I suggest doing that so you have a better idea of what your getting into.and sitting on a bike does tell a lot about it. but not the whole story.your best bet would be to pickup a sv650, learn how to ride proper upgrade the suspension on the cheap and then eventually pickup a liter i4 or something of the sort.my buddy just picked up a 07 gsxr750 and he says he misses his sv650.

2-3k price range in a VFR is probably going to be a 750 in the 2nd gen, maybe a 3rd gen(single swing arm). Pretty much not a chance to find an vfr800 for less than 5-6kLike I mentioned I think they are great bikes, I have two. An 86 vf500 and a 94 vfr750

toyota, when you refer to liter... (size, i'm presuming, but could you expound on the conversion from cubic centimeters and such? i'm curious)and as far as i4, i have no ideathanksthe shadow i named Sherry (after the Journey song), the f4i, Wind (in a japanese goddess legend sort of vein)
