Hello Kind Folks,I recently bought a Z. I just noticed today that every time i step on the gas more than a little bit, I hear a hissing noise from the engine..the hissing gets louder and louder till you ease off the gas...Is this normal? Thanks!

ya...this thing:http://www.courtesyparts.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=CP&Product_Code=Z3303-JWTI hope this does not hurt my warranty
11/27/2007 1:24:44 PM
yea i was gonna say sounds like an air intakeis it a constant sound or like a warble like hissssssSSSSSSssss or HISS HISS HISS HISSyear of the car?
11/27/2007 1:29:24 PM
2006its constant...hissssssSSSSSSssss
11/27/2007 1:31:17 PM
friend of mines Eclipse sounded basically like that after he added an air filter like the one you linked to. If you're that worried about it, put the original equipment back on and see if it goes away. Although, I highly doubt it's a problem.

muffler bearings
11/27/2007 1:33:03 PM
and my warranty is still fine?If not, I gotta give this car back...I don't have the original..the dude who had it before sold it to the dealer I bought the car from.I dont mind the hissing..its just i spent a shit load more so I'm under warranty the next couple of years.[Edited on November 27, 2007 at 1:42 PM. Reason : ..]

better start huntin in the junkyards around man. muffler bearings are no joke. I definitely wouldn't want to replace them out of pocket.
11/27/2007 1:45:22 PM
your engine is full of snakes. You need a snake filter to stop the snakes from getting in.[Edited on November 27, 2007 at 1:50 PM. Reason : the stock filter was probably snake proof. Check the new one for snake holes]

^That guy is full of shit, ignore him. He doesn't know anything about cars.Yea my vote would be muffler bearings also. I've heard they are prone to go out on the first year of that car. Not a big deal but will cost around $200.[Edited on November 27, 2007 at 1:58 PM. Reason : .]
11/27/2007 1:57:54 PM
oh come on it was a joke.but yea. 3rding muffler bearings. I had to get mine replaced, but it only cost me ~$70. Woot cheap shit domestics.
11/27/2007 2:05:10 PM
cool. I bought a pair of muffler bearings popped them into gas tank...and all is good...
11/27/2007 2:07:28 PM
dudeyou arent supposed to put them in the gas tankyou are going to lock your engine up
11/27/2007 2:14:33 PM
yeah its the intake.
11/27/2007 2:21:09 PM
i think the warranty you have is prolly just on the drivetrain anywaysyou need to look at the warranty you purchased to see what it covers and what changes are permitted.
11/27/2007 2:29:00 PM
^I only have like 10k miles on it...its still under the bumper to bumper till 09/36,000 miles

this thread
11/27/2007 4:16:00 PM
just in case this thread needs a serious response, your warranty can't be voided for an aftermarket cai (cold air intake).
11/27/2007 4:27:38 PM
yea srsly
11/27/2007 4:32:05 PM
^^ it can, but they have to prove the problem was directly cause by the modificationedit: you're right that they can't void it just for having the cai, but if something goes wrong that they can link to it then they will not cover the repair[Edited on November 27, 2007 at 4:45 PM. Reason : edit]
11/27/2007 4:40:31 PM
Thanks!. Now I gotta make sure this stupid pipe thing that goes into the filter from the bumper doesn't suck water.
11/27/2007 4:50:44 PM
you dont need to worry about that.
11/27/2007 5:56:39 PM
^^ ford any cricks lately?
11/27/2007 9:30:57 PM
make sure you top off your blinker fluid, when that gets low the air passing over will make a hissing noise. my guess is you are probably a quart low. go by advanced and ask for it.
11/28/2007 1:45:25 AM
I can't believe they charge $110 bucks for that shit

It was that to-atmosphere goddam blowoff valve.
11/28/2007 4:40:29 PM
my wife always says "bless you" when she hears a rice car with a bov vented open.
11/28/2007 6:20:37 PM
^^^ T-28 garrett^^ nah, the BOV was very quiet. (crushed?) 1G DSM unit, if i remember correctly.
11/28/2007 8:57:45 PM
Fairly loud turbo...And the blowoff valve wasn't really quiet when it blew off!
11/28/2007 9:00:13 PM
roll it around in the dirt and install it back on the car. see if the noise continues.
11/28/2007 9:16:43 PM
^ hey look the pussy that got scared and backed out of the race in his shit stang is back[Edited on November 29, 2007 at 10:48 AM. Reason : you faggot ass faggot, people were actually getting legit advice until you came back]
11/29/2007 10:47:48 AM
