You do know that was just a character he was playing in a movie. Will Smith doesn't really have a robotic arm.[Edited on November 26, 2007 at 4:49 PM. Reason : .]

When I saw a preview for this story on the news I was like "OLD, didn't this happen like 5 years ago?"Just now I see that it was a different dude cutting off his arm.
11/27/2007 11:33:34 AM
but....how do you cut through bone?
11/27/2007 11:36:34 AM
maybe he cut through the ligaments?
11/27/2007 11:39:23 AM
I guess that makes sense
11/27/2007 11:39:57 AM
The bone was probably broken pretty badly anyway. He was probably cutting through the tendons and marrow or whatever other nastiness is in and around the bone.[Edited on November 27, 2007 at 11:41 AM. Reason : s]

you just have to go to the joints, you can take your arm off at the elbow in no time.

ahaha, I didn't find this story disturbing at all until I read you guy's comments then I started picturing it in my mind
11/27/2007 12:03:53 PM
I'd be willing be bet he cut it off at the elbow so he didn't have to go through any bone. I'm suprised he was so quick to cut off his arm.I remember a while ago there was that hiker who got his arm caught under a boulder and was stuck there for a few days. He finally put a tourniquet on his upper arm, crushed the bone with a rock, cut through the flesh with his dull pocketknife and walked a couple miles until he reached a road.

umm... i'm pretty sure flesh doesn't melt. that would make cooking amusing though.

Ok, so his fingers were what was stuck because it says he began cutting at this fingers after an hour of sitting there and then he cut his arm off after the thing caught fire. What the fuck? If he's sitting there for an hour in no immediate danger (the machine had not caught fire yet) why would he decide to cut his fingers off, boredom? If only his fingers were caught you would think that he would have been able to yank them out, granted it may cause some severe damage to his hand. This guy seems like he was looking for an excuse to cut his arm off
