my brother has a Tom Tom One and I've used it on road trips. pretty basic, functional and intuitive. thinking about getting one for the g/f's parents for christmas

there is another thread, but i'll summarize.

garmin is the best, but more expensive.
mio has pretty much the same features and is more economical.

i'm preferential to the garmin nuvi line and would recommend the nuvi 360 which is around $300. for around $100 more you can probably find a great deal on the 660 which is the widescreen equivalent with traffic monitoring.

ive just read as far as cheap and functional that works decent without all the bells and whistles, the tomtom one is a good choice (at $150 now)

I have no personal experience but in some reviews people weren't happy with the interface of Tom Tom??? but you cant beat the price

their interface is the best i have used.. find the other thread, there was a lot of good info in it

Buy a fucking garmin.

If you can't be bothered to take the damn 5 seconds required to do a search, you deserve to pay double for the same damn features.

I'm still waiting for someone to tell me how it's better. I mean, I know at this point, you're just trying to get me riled up. But seriously, all I've heard is that it's just better. But no one will say how. Certainly no one will even try to try to say it's 2.5-3 times better (which it would have to be to justify the price)
