Pound of smoked sausage + Zataran's = Jamabalaya ftw.

Ramen + anything you can find (random meat, veggies, etc.).
11/18/2007 6:25:55 PM
I'm disappointed that only one person suggested buying food at the grocery store and cooking it. It's like 1/4 of the cost of eating out.TWW ftl

1) Go to grocery store.2) Buy beans and rice (cheapest source of calories that exists).3) If you don't mind spending a little extra, buy an onion, some bacon strips, and some seasonings.4) Put the beans, onion, bacon, seasonings, and some water into a crock pot.5) Let cook on low heat for ~12 hours.6) Cook up a bowl of rice in ~15 minutes.7) Profit.

oh i know how to eat for cheap from a grocery store, trust me, but getting a decent meal for 2 bucks isn't realistic. anything good I'd cook would require already having a certain stock of "support" ingredients in the house....which we really don't.
11/18/2007 8:17:20 PM
you should always have a ~$3 jar of pesto aroundyou can make mircales happen on the mega cheap with some handy pesto

you could go to sullivan's. their bar menu is half-off tonight. wait.. it might be too late to do it tonight. but next sunday you could go. they have big burgers and chips (and i think you can substitute mashed potatoes for them) for $5, and small steaks for $5, and other stuff. all $5 or under.
