why would no one want to go to a class this way? you wouldn't have to leave your house, but you wouldn't have to be all responsible and pace yourself like with an online class. seems like it could be nice.

I've taken plenty of classes where I've wondered why people even bothered to show up. The professor could easily put up videos of their lectures and e-mail all paper communications.

No meaningful questions are asked. No real debate or conversation goes on. Nobody's talking after class or making new friends/connections. All communication with the professor is purely an ass-kissing exercise for these ridiculous "attendance/participation" grades...

So Second Life or something like it seems like the next step in mainstreaming/depersonalizing higher education.
