i dont know why people hate on microsoft. Its an excellent opportunity that most anyone would love to have. They are a great company to work for.
11/17/2007 11:29:23 AM
Congrats on finding a new job!
11/17/2007 11:48:23 AM
what dreams do you have that are incompatible with making lots of money, living in a good location, and working with one of the smartest groups of people in the world?
11/17/2007 11:56:10 AM
noen recently accepted a job there as well i thought
11/17/2007 1:07:54 PM
somebody on here took a job there not too long ago. i think it was noen
11/17/2007 1:34:42 PM
The grapevine just passed me a note, is it true that Noen is working in Seattle right now?
11/17/2007 2:20:54 PM
I'VE BEEN HEARING RUMORS ON THE INTERNETSthat noen moved to seattle and is working at Microsofthes an obnoxious prick though. i'll probably snub him if i see him in the Bill Gates Memorial Cafeteria and Espresso Bar.

11/17/2007 11:18:46 PM
I knew this a long time ago]
11/17/2007 11:25:55 PM
don't know if you know this but you are a dumbass.
11/17/2007 11:35:32 PM
that was uncalled for golovko
11/17/2007 11:37:22 PM
I have a couple of friends who work or worked for them, and they all really enjoyed it. The impression I get though is that like any other large company, the experience depends a lot on the group or project you're put on.Congrats, btw!
11/18/2007 12:04:23 AM
haha, i don't quite get how any of you figure that Seattle is a "good location".it's cool for a little while...not a place i'd want to live for more than a year. MAYBE 2, tops. I hate the complete lack of a summer and the daily rain.[Edited on November 18, 2007 at 12:18 AM. Reason : asdf]
11/18/2007 12:17:20 AM
^^ yep. large company-> large company politics, bureaucracy, inanities. MS is notorious for its fiefdom problems. Also, at the end of the day, no one can really be happy about putting out a shit product. You'd better hope you get on one of the cool things that they do.
11/18/2007 12:28:45 AM
^QFT.If you want to do new and exciting things in a fast-paced environment, then a large company is not for you. If you want a long-term stable job with a clear path of advancement, then you've made the right move.
11/18/2007 2:49:53 AM
Duke, having lived in both places i can say theres a noticeable difference in the weather of Seattle vs. Whidbey Island... and this past summer was an anomaly. just about every other year, theres a distinct summer that lasts from late May through late August, and its quite nice. i dont know what happened this year. summer sucked.

i interviewed with google last year and I have to say at least my interview process with MS was MUCH better than the one with google. that and as good a company as I'm sure google is, as a designer at least, I have waaay more flexibility and lateral movement opportunity with MS.[Edited on November 18, 2007 at 5:32 PM. 11/18/2007 5:32:08 PM
I hear the "chain of command" is pretty flat at google; not as much opportunity to move up.
11/18/2007 5:34:34 PM
I think nearly anyone in CS would be happy to get an offer from either company- grats!
11/18/2007 5:36:14 PM

I would think a MS employee would have proper grasp of how to use emoticons.

(1) im not a Microserf. i'm a contractor. contractors are the squashed dungbeetles on the Microserf's boot heel.(2) :blowme:

has MS implemented any of the suggestions from that blog post?[Edited on November 19, 2007 at 8:01 AM. Reason : oh and congrats]
