I'm trying to switch to a regular cell phone account as i've had this stupid go phone shit for the last two years. They wouldnt let me get a regular account as I have no credit card but I would think after two years of paying these bills on time to them they would let me get one, anyone know of a way/place I could do that?

Haha i'm not expecting it to do jack shit to my credit score, but the way it works is its basically a regular cellphone bill, i get charged once a month. I would think it would show cingular that I'm capable of paying bills on time.

Just pay the deposit and be done with it. You are getting raped on the prepaid service cost. The deposit seems like a lot now, but in the long run it is cheaper and helps your credit. Also, tell them you work for the US Post Office and you will get 25% off monthly service and 50% off accessories. You get waived activation fees too =)

They will probably credit the deposit back to your account in 10 or 11 months. That is how most of them work. They subsidize the cost of the handsets so if you sign up and then don't pay right out the gate then you may have actually cost them money. Thats why they charge the deposit and then give it back later.

1) Get a capital one card.2) Pay your deposit with it.3) Tie your monthly bill payment to your brand new credit card.4) pay it off every month. You'll have acceptable credit by the end of the year.
