the last system i owned was a sega saturn (though i had access to a ps2 and other systems until about two years ago)

i consider myself something of an enthusiast, but i'm also pretty broke. so i pretty rarely buy a game new. typically if i do buy a game, i buy it used. i guess i might buy a game once every 2-3 months.the last game i bought was the orange box, and i split that with my roommate. before that, i bought FFXII used. i think the last game i got new was the original guitar hero

I have a 360 and a Wii. I buy maybe one game a month, I seem to be purchasing mostly new games recently just because there have been some great releases. But I do not have a problem buying pre-owned, usually online.I always sell online (half.com). Some games I'll buy pre-owned, beat them, then sell online.I don't generally... Halo 3 was the only game I pre-ordered that I can recall.

i play mostly role playing games. because of that, i've preordered quite a few lately because of limited prints such as wild arms 5, persona 3, and growlanser. i might not get to them for another 1/2 year but they'll be near impossible to find by then. most other games i buy used except in rare instances like the toys r us b2g1 free deal.

It varies. For example this month I've bought COD 4 and Assassins Creed. Will be buying Mass Effect also. But last month I bought 1 game. So I can go a few months with no games or 1 month with a bunch just depends on game releases.I buy new.
11/14/2007 6:30:03 PM
I usually buy 1 every couple months. Older games I try to buy used. My most anticipated games I'll get brand new. Keep everything.Never preorder.

I don't jump on trends... I tend to find a game I really like and stick with it. I own a 360 and a wii also... Wii sports is my favorite Wii game so far... The only actual game I played for the wii was tony hawk proving grounds and I hated it compared to tony hawk with a standard controller b/c it was just retardidly difficult to keep the wii-motes level... hence any major release games, I will buy for my 360 (kinda as always planned) UNLESS there is free online play like GH3 which I bought for the wii...I have spent many many hours on Fight night Round 3 and Forza both of which I bought used (forza for $8) I'd like to buy Forza 2 but I'm waiting for it to be <$25...I did buy GOW as a hot release, and I did just buy GH3 as a hot release... but I own 5 games total on 2 systems... (halo2,forza,fnr3/wiisports,gh3) and I'm pretty darn happy

I get 1-2 a month I guess, if you count VC and XBLA releases that's definitely the case.I try to sell on craigslist, but I tend to hold on to games.I only preorder stuff unlikely to have a lot of copies sent into the store, since I've heard about some the shit they pull at Gamestop. Otherwise I just buy it somewhere else, since there are sometimes special deals for major releases (like the $25 gift card for Mario Galaxy).

I buy like, 1-2 new games a year.
11/15/2007 12:20:33 AM
Last game I bought was bioshock, before that was HL2/TF2. If I really enjoy a game i'll probably buy it. That doesn't mean I don't play all the other games though inbetween purchases. I'll probably buy UT07 next.[Edited on November 15, 2007 at 12:23 AM. Reason : .]

I'm pretty conservative about the games I buy...but if a game lives up to it's hype and is among the types of games I'm into, I'll go for it (I guess that's a pretty basic criteria, but I have a weird taste in games....I'll go from buying Halo to not liking Prince of Persia, yet playing the hell out of Ninja Gaiden)
11/15/2007 12:23:52 AM
Because I play WoW I don't really buy video games anymore. I am never home enough to warrant buying a 360 or even a PS3 (yet).I generally keep everything because I know as soon as I trade it in or sell it I will want to play it.I pre-order games that I know are going to be big sellers like the WoW expansion last January. I did pre-order Hellgate London thinking it was going to be a big seller but hasn't turned out to be a big hit.
11/15/2007 12:31:15 AM
I rarely buy games, but there have been a huge amount of must have titles (for me) in the past two months on the 360, so I'm broke. But....I try to buy used if possible, but if it's a good game, I don't mind buying new.

I get about 8 per month.I can't sell them.I pre-order with the blackcats-games rss feed.

^^Sure it does.I'd say that for me the number of games I was buying per year started to increase in my early 20's, peak in my mid 20's and drop off in my late 20's.Currently I'm just sitting this generation out. I was just going to wait until the next generation, but I'll probably just pass on it as well.I still keep up with PC games, about 6 a year or so.I never ended up selling my games. I figured that I'd get more enjoyment by shelving them and coming back to them years down the road rather than getting the $5 I would have probably gotten out of them.Toward the end I only bought used games - mostly to save money. I started to get a lot of sports titles and I always waited until the next version came out. When NCAA Football '07 hits the shelves you can pick up '06 for like $3.I never pre-ordered a game. I probably peaked with buying games around 2003-2004. Back then I never had a problem trying to find a copy of the latest release. I didn't see the point, you're just giving the people a free loan. Besides, I developed the ability to wait for things. Eventually you end up getting what you want anyway, you don't get suckered by hype into buying crappy games because everyone else test drove them for you, and you can save money.[Edited on November 15, 2007 at 8:02 AM. How many do you usually get a month? i usually only buy a few games a year, like 5 or so.Do you trade it in or try to sell a game on tww or something else? yes, unless its a keeper for meDo you pre-order games? nope, its just not worth the hassle of giving up information when you can just walk in the store after its released and buy it

How many do you usually get a month? Maybe 1 or 2, depending on what is coming out or how bored I am with what I got.Do you trade it in or try to sell a game on tww or something else? yes, unless I think it has enough replay value to play again, except FPS games with decent multiplayerDo you pre-order games? yeah, doesn't take much time and I figure that I'll be picking it up anyways.

I pay 15 bucks a month to play WoW, between that and real life I dont have time for much else game wise other than GHIII which my roommate bought.

In recent years I have bought games when I had the money but I was a poor college student and that wasn't too often. Nowadays I have graduated and have a real job and am getting a real income (and have a lot more free time), so I buy a lot more games. It also largely depends on the season. The Autumn months usually have the best new releases, and since about July I have found that I buy about 2-3 games a month, depending on launch dates. I have a Wii and bought a used PS2 a few months ago simply because there are tons of old PS2 games I wanted to play and never got a chance to. I have a list of these PS2 games that I plan on buying used (since most of them came out between 2002-2006) over the next year or so between droughts in new releases.I usually sell the games back when I'm finished with them unless I REALLY like the game. If it is a game that I have been looking forward to for a while (Orange Box, Metroid Prime 3, Smash, etc.) then I'll preorder. I considered preordering Super Mario Galaxy but then I heard about that deal that Toys R Us was doing.

~6 or so a year so 0.5?nah i usually keep it, occasionally i want to be entertained by it againrarely, usually only for something I think I might have a problem getting my hands on, on release day
11/15/2007 11:18:35 AM
i probably get 1-2 games a year. But I don't have a next-gen system. If/when i get a ps3 sometime next year that will grow.
