that shit is so much slower nowlaaaaaaaamei switched back to basic html view, otherwise it runs like freakin hotmail...
11/14/2007 2:30:20 PM
No way it's slower ... unless you're using a 286 or something?
11/14/2007 2:34:06 PM
^^wrong
11/14/2007 2:35:28 PM
the interface is changed....it runs a lot like the new version of hotmailthey've switched up some of the interface as well...check your contacts for instance...
11/14/2007 2:35:55 PM
still fast as hell for me
11/14/2007 2:37:55 PM
i notice a tiny bit of lag on my endmaybe just my work network, ill have to check when i get homeeither way, shit is different looking...maybe they'll finally come off of beta
11/14/2007 2:39:28 PM
it is a tid bit slower but not significantly.
11/14/2007 2:40:22 PM
11/14/2007 2:42:43 PM
definitely slower for me now too
11/14/2007 3:39:30 PM
mine looks/works exactly the same as it always has. did they not roll this out for everyone or did they already undo it??
11/14/2007 3:44:18 PM
^
11/14/2007 3:47:49 PM
^^Correct, it's not rolled out for everyone yet.Fwiw, I do have it on my stock Gmail account but not my domain-based Gmail account ... wish they'd hurry up with that.
11/14/2007 3:50:09 PM
Gmail is in fact slower. I have also noticed that sometimes all of the bells and whistles that i have come to love and enjoy, IE) the little window that pops up with address suggestions, have not been working consistently.
11/14/2007 3:58:27 PM
11/14/2007 3:58:47 PM
some things are slower, like AutoComplete, but most things are way faster. Opening messages, and "next"/"Previous" are almost instantaneous now because of the new prefetching and caching.
11/14/2007 4:01:16 PM
opening mail and autocomplete for addresses is what I have noticed being slower. Archiving isn't as fast either.
11/14/2007 4:33:08 PM
i tried to upload a profile pic and it was like "no"so i switched back to older version, made the upload, then switched backkinda silly
11/14/2007 5:52:29 PM
yeah i got the new version, but then I clicked where it said "older version" and now its back to the way it used to be.
11/15/2007 8:19:18 AM
I prefer the old version too
11/15/2007 8:35:50 AM
I think it looks the same on mine, but I only use the web access like once a month anyways
11/15/2007 8:47:32 AM
the overall look is generally the same. Some small tweaks in the main interface, plus an overhaul of the Contact Manager. The big difference is that apparently they rewrote the JavaScript backend completely, so operations like opening and navigating between mails is much faster. http://gmailblog.blogspot.com/2007/10/code-changes-to-prepare-gmail-for.htmlhttp://google.blognewschannel.com/archives/2007/10/29/google-analyst-day-features-new-gmail/for me, everything is either faster or the same. i have no problems with the "new" gmail
11/15/2007 9:04:19 AM
11/15/2007 9:07:38 AM
autocomplete is bullshit nowi type in immediately after clicking compose, and it lags...so i backspace, adn then retype and then it autocompletes from my address book
11/15/2007 9:08:17 AM
yeah, /?ui=1 is the original and /?ui=2 is the new one. one additional feature of the new interface is that everything is linkable via the new URL structure. Each mailbox has the "#inbox" format added to the end of the URL. Individual messages, searches and labels are also linkable, likehttp://mail.google.com/mail/#label/Familyhttp://mail.google.com/mail/#search/work

anyone having trouble with the latest thunderbird update (2.0.0.9) and gmail IMAP? sometimes it complains that IMAP isn't available
11/15/2007 12:52:17 PM
switched back to the old versionit takes 10+ seconds to archive or send an email with the new version, the old version works perfectly.
11/15/2007 1:34:10 PM
I don't like how now when i click an email on my "igoogle" page, it brings up the inbox instead of the specific email. So now I gotta click the email twice? That's not faster.
11/15/2007 1:38:28 PM
11/15/2007 1:56:42 PM
I can't tell any difference, as far as look or speed.
11/15/2007 2:51:23 PM
it seems to have improved some since i started the threadautocomplete is still a pain in the ass though

Along with the lagging autocomplete. I've been having trouble sending attachments. Switched to the older version. It went through without a problem.
11/18/2007 9:00:00 PM
I sent a 10mb attachment find the other day over Cingular... and haven't noticed any slowness of the auto complete. Ah well, if there is a problem, knowing google they'll fix it.
11/18/2007 10:07:05 PM
they'll fix it (beta)

11/27/2007 11:44:00 AM
^ not sure about gmail but once I upgraded it has caused random issues where I can not type in forms in Google.
