So the newest Gundam series just started a little while ago. I've made it through episode 6 and it's pretty much the exact same as SEED with the exception of space elevators in place of space colonies.I give it 2.5 out of 5 stars.Any other thoughts?

Just now downloading some eps. Haven't actually seen anything yet, but heard the plot was a lot darker and not as whiny/teeny/angsty.

The plot isn't very dark yet, but it's mostly just standard Gundam stuff. There's perpetual war going on throughout a lot of the world and then comes in the Gundam factor. Also, in the first 5 episodes there's the obligatory "Mobile suit destroys part of a space colony" sort of thing.Seriously, to me the characters seem just as teeny and whiny. And the Gundam pilots seem just as ridiculous. But the space elevators and that solar collector that wraps around the Earth in geocentric orbit is cool as shit.

^ its actually a real idea that people have been suggesting for decades. instead of using rockets to get into space you essentially build giant elevators that shuttle people from the surface to space stations. think of it as a giant tube going from the surface into outer space
