The Story
Short story is that my surf racks were about 8yrs old and rusted. Coming back up 12 on Hatteras Island a gust caught my board, tore both racks into two pieces each and slamed the tail of my board on the highway at 50mph or so. The middle fin is torn off as well, but I managed to find it.

The Pictures
Its an 8ft. funboard by a shaper out of wilmington, & there are higher res pics in my gallery if you want to zoom in on the damage.

The racks. 8 years and one roll over's worth of service. RIP

The Question(s)
The board has foam and stringer damage on the tail. For those that may know, is this repairable? My gut instinct says no, but I figured I'd ask the masses before I took it to a shaper out here or started shopping for a new stick.

On a side note, anyone know of a decent shaper on the outer banks that they trust?

There's a TWWer on here that makes surfboards...

Can think of his name at the second. I'll edit when I think of it.

You can fix that board, but it may not be worth the effort.

My brother-in-law has a guy who makes all his custom board for him, but I can't remember the name. Hit up first street in KDH on a decent surf day and ask the locals about their favorite board makers. Make sure to ask someone older than 25. There's not telling what some of those punk Manteo kids will tell you. What you get will all depend on your budget.

Budget is actually ok to get a new one, but Im real partial to this board. I know a couple of guys over at Cavalier and one in Corolla, but I havent been by either yet. yay for instant gratification of the internet

id say if its got sentimental value then yes

if you can afford a new one, get a new one...they are fairly cheap this time of year anyways and you can prolly get one a littler nicer

but yea, its fixable...anything is depending on your money in a way

I have had a couple of Allison boards before as well and if you love that one, you can always take it back to Will in Wilmington and have him shape you a new one just like your old one. I have had him make me 2 boards in the past. If you want more info on that route just shoot me a pm. It would take at least 3 weeks I think though.

Not true. If you break the center beam, you'll essentially be building a new board, not fixing an old one.
