although they had not yet adopted the name wolfpack and were still known as north carolina a and m, this is the 1901 team photo from my family archive. i have the original photo graph with the handwritten schedule and roster. it is interesting to note the nose guards, the 1901 football, and the fact that the interlocking "NC" was used by us at that time. the four game schedule was: guilford, oak ridge (military school), unc, and davidson.ront (l-r): gulley, neal, council, carpenter, kennedymiddle: gardener asbury, oumner, brockwellback: ferreby welch, wooten, richardson, darden, parkerand this is the 1901-02 graduating class, in uniform, in front of holiday hall:

we used to have the 1901 unc football picture at our old housethey all had the same nc overlay on their sweaters, so im thinking that one guy maybe stole it from a unc player
