so my resume needs a serious overhaul. i havent changed the basic format since i created it in my senior year at NCSU, probably 5 years ago.the format i had was good then, as a new grad ... but now that im looking to land a more experienced position, its not so great.anyone got any ideas on this, or templates they can link to? or if you wanted to send me a good one that works for you (stripped of identifying info, of course) you can PM me for my email address.

Sorry, got nuthin', really ... However, best advice I can give is to make sure you just put RELEVANT info on the resume for the job you're applying for ... ie, they don't care if you ever worked at McDonalds *shrug* (not that you did). But you get the drift. Also, keep it VERY simple, screw layout, honestly just ensure that if it were faxed or scanned OCR-style (HR depts LOVE this for data entry, so easy if done right) that it's still clearly legible or scans properly. So that means, don't use fancy fonts, typically OCR software just wants to see basic fonts that it can recognize, monospaced fonts are a plus in that realm.Overall, keep it professional and simple, techies especially are not looking to be "wowed" by the presentation, and HR people couldn't give a flying-rat's-ass about it, they're looking to fill a job. Finally, get your resume out there, apply everywhere so you have some pull when a company (that you want) wants to hire you for less but you (maybe) have a better offer elsewhere. That or it just increases your odds that you'll find a job ;DSorry no templates, but does that help any?[Edited on November 8, 2007 at 1:36 AM. Reason : ok, i guess i had a little bit of something.]
