...is one step closer to becoming a reality. (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3096923) I don't like it, but I figure it's an inevitability. Let's argue.

And.... GO!!!
11/6/2007 5:45:25 PM
Also, don't bring your baseball haterade to my thread, trolls.
11/6/2007 5:46:56 PM
i think it's awesome
11/6/2007 5:50:33 PM
Good idea, shouldn't slow down the game much. I just hope they don't soon add safe/out, foul tips/strikes, and balls & strikes (ala QuesTec).
11/6/2007 5:55:29 PM
I think they get the call right most of the time anyways, but I also think there should always be a human element to the game too. Sometimes the call doesn't go your way, but more often than not, you'll get the call some other time.
11/6/2007 5:57:30 PM
I dont want to see it for balls and strikes. I would like to see it for home runs and plays at the bases.
11/6/2007 6:01:59 PM
i thought this was only for homeruns[Edited on November 6, 2007 at 6:04 PM. Reason : oh it is]
11/6/2007 6:03:54 PM
It is.
11/6/2007 6:04:36 PM
I didn't read the article... just giving my opinion.
11/6/2007 6:06:48 PM
the posts misled me
11/6/2007 6:06:50 PM
Against it. Not really against it for homeruns per se, but I think it would lead to more and more things being reviewed.
11/6/2007 6:08:50 PM
i like the home run part of instant replay, but i think that it will be a slippery slope, and there really arent that many bad calls any way
11/6/2007 6:11:53 PM
Ha, it's funny that people complain that something could slow down baseball.Yeah, that's the last thing we want, is to add brief pauses to an action packed game of baseball.
11/6/2007 6:15:56 PM
Way to totally shit on your own argument, AndyMac!
11/6/2007 6:19:41 PM
in that article
11/6/2007 6:27:04 PM
yeah it will affect the game very little. Much like the instant replay in the NBA. It rarely needs to be used and when it does it is usually just confirm what we pretty much know.
11/6/2007 6:29:57 PM
I'm a purist...baseball, albeit w/ some changes (wildcard) has remained basically unchanged.I like it that way.
11/6/2007 6:45:33 PM
I THINK ITS ABSURD THAT THEY ARE PROPOSING THIS FOR EVERY PLAY EXCEPT FOR HOME RUNS. ITS CLEARLY BIASED TO THE BRAVES WHICH ONLY HAVE HOMO FANS.
11/6/2007 11:04:37 PM
i'm with t-rash on this no jokewtf...baseball is too slow to use instant reply

i don't like baseball. but tennis is similarly steeped in tradition and their switch to a replay system went very smoothly and the fans seemed to like it. i think the reason it has succeeded with tennis is that it is a very fast system (basically instantaneous) and they engage the fans in the review.

YES, make these bitches stay in the batters box like they do college, and lets get this shit moving. Especially for non televised games. If they want to keep milking the ad revenue, just make the commercials between innings longer.I tried watching a regular season game on TV once -my IQ dropped 3 points when I fail out of my chair and hit my head from a diabetic-like coma.
11/7/2007 10:48:52 AM
The ones that hit the top of the fence and go over are home runs...the instances they were talking about are when the ball hits the top of the wall in the corner facing the field at such an angle that it bounces back on to the field instead of bouncing into the stands...this happens several times a season and is obvious when given the benefit of replay.
11/7/2007 10:50:01 AM
its bout damn time baseball still sucks tho
11/7/2007 10:59:50 AM
11/7/2007 12:18:28 PM
i completely disagree with this. The human element is what has made baseball legend for over a century. I don't like it at all.
11/7/2007 12:33:01 PM
Does anyone actually watch 9 innings of baseball on TV?I mean I love going to games, and watching them as much as I can. But there is no way I sit and watch 9 innings unless it has meaning. And then who cares how long it goes.As for instant reply on homerun balls, I think what does it hurt? Its a good first step since its a small one.
11/7/2007 12:48:05 PM
^ I do.Come on though, with instant replay, we might diminish the chances of Pinella storming out of the dugout, throwing his hat down, and kicking dirt on a smug looking umpire. Instead, he'll throw the red flag in the general direction of the umpire...Baseball legend is made from the mistakes.
11/7/2007 1:05:39 PM
11/7/2007 1:45:16 PM
I do too.I say YES for replay of HRs, but keep it at that.
11/7/2007 2:01:11 PM
you people are insane who want the replay...
11/7/2007 2:01:36 PM
It should make baseball faster. Instead of umps huddling up, then making a call, then the opposing manager arguing for a couple minutes if not getting kicked out.. I don't think it would ever lead to balls and strikes, and I hope it doesn't lead to baserunning calls either. Really, since this might only happen once a week, it shouldn't inconvenience anybody too much.
11/7/2007 9:34:48 PM
you guys have lives?
11/7/2007 11:08:56 PM
bttt br
6/29/2010 4:58:44 PM
wow...
6/29/2010 5:00:39 PM
what's a DH?
6/29/2010 5:03:30 PM
So I retired the gunzz schtick, much to my chagrinBut perhaps I've found my new calling
6/29/2010 5:04:24 PM
My concern is that it cannot be implemented at a grass-roots level, that it impedes with the natural flow the game, and that controversy is good for the game.........wait.....what?
6/29/2010 5:05:25 PM
that home run england scored against germany should have counted, and it could have easily have been rectified by instant replayi mean, if you are going in to the 5th inning tied at 2 runs a piece, it's a completely different mindset than if you are down 2-1. If germany had any class, they would have immediately allowed frank lampard the opportunity to steal home plate after the 7th inning stretch.
6/29/2010 5:19:36 PM
I won't mind as long as they aren't as stupid as the NCAA. I once saw a WR for LSU catch the ball with his hands in the middle of the end zone, take 2 steps backwards, stop, and then hand the ball to the ref. They took about 3 minutes to make sure it was a catch. I don't know why they take 5 minutes on some of the reviews when you can tell what happened after 1, or 2 replays.
6/29/2010 5:20:07 PM
ahahahahahahaha
6/29/2010 5:25:28 PM
I vote yes on one condition. They go back to '96 and take away the Jeffrey Maher HR away.
6/29/2010 5:30:27 PM
A+
6/29/2010 5:36:11 PM
that home run by carlos tevez was clearly a foul ball.
6/29/2010 5:37:36 PM
Alexei Ramirez was clearly safe on Sunday night against the Cubbiesby like 3 steps
6/29/2010 5:41:42 PM
lol. sports talk mods are such a fucking joke. what a bunch of cocksuckers.
6/29/2010 6:41:39 PM
there is a 2010 MLB Season Thread , a OFFICIAL NO-HITTER/PERFECT GAME JINX THREAD thread and a Official 2010 Fantasy Baseball Advice thread that this could be talked about in and you know that.
