The first bit of hot stove news was on the front page of ESPN stating that the tribe picked up the 7.5 mil option on Byrdie, the 4 mil option on Borowski, and the 1.5 mil option on Fultz. All three seem to be good moves right now but any of them could be used to as tradebait to get that outfield bat we desperately need.GO TRIBE!

CC!AL CY YOUNG WINNER!
11/13/2007 4:10:38 PM
That's another 3 mill we'll have to pay him. But good for him.
11/13/2007 4:19:53 PM
so the Cy Young has become the new Heisman....vote for someone who looked ok during the year but collapses when it matters
11/13/2007 4:27:20 PM
OK all of you know I am a die hard Yankees fan......but how could they not give that to Beckett...come on ????
11/13/2007 5:25:14 PM
its voted on a secret ballot at the end of the regular season so the post season had no effect on the vote.
11/13/2007 5:27:08 PM
I'm pretty sure the votes are submitted BEFORE the playoffsI agree that Beckett was way better in the playoffs (when it mattered) but they both had very similar and great regular seasons with that said, CONGRATULATIONS C.C.!!!!^yeah what he said[Edited on November 13, 2007 at 5:30 PM. Reason : asdf]
11/13/2007 5:29:33 PM
yeah, the votes go before the post-season (like the heisman, which votes before conference championships even...hello Jason White). Most of what I've read is that it's because CC pitched more innings and had more starts. Which is kind of silly to me - you penalize a pitcher who doesn't have to go as deep because of run support or who doesn't have to start as regularly.I think if you look at the divisions in which they pitch, you could make an argument that Beckett had to face more quality opponents. Whatever, I knew Beckett would get screwed out of it because the sox were a better team than the indians and thus didn't have to rely as heavily on pitching to win. Congrats to CC...maybe it'll help ease the pain of getting shown up by the 2nd best pitcher in the playoffs.
11/13/2007 6:11:34 PM
I dont know about that, the AL central is a tougher division than the AL eastand the argument was that CC pitched 40+ more innings than Beckett and maintained a low ERA. And as far as Beckett having more run support, the Red Sox barely had more runs scored than the Indians this season
11/14/2007 10:01:21 AM
Disagree with that....I think if you look at the divisions the east had 3 teams with over 80 wins. Where as the central only had 2. Plus the Tribe doesn't have to deal with the pressure of the rivalry at the level that the Yanks / Bosox have to deal with all year. That added pressure alone matters. Both are great pitchers and both probably deserve the award. I just think this year....beckett was better, but obviously the people that mattered didn't think so. Congrat's to CC and Congrat's to Josh for having a great year. At this point I would almost rather see Josh win the MVP instead of that PIECE of Shit May-rod. Yankees in 2008
11/14/2007 11:41:16 AM
way to go CC. Here's to 2008. but for now, LETS GO BROWNIES!
11/14/2007 12:25:24 PM

3/24/2008 7:36:41 PM
woooo, thanks manshould be a battle all season long between the Tribe and Tigers (and also the BoSox and Yankees for the wild card)We have a stacked lineup again, a stacked rotation, and an even deeper bullpen than last year, should be a fun seasonGO TRIBE!
3/24/2008 7:39:04 PM
i think both of our closers are the worst in baseball (im a tigers fan)
3/24/2008 7:50:43 PM
But you both have great young arms that the manager's unexplicably refuse to turn to. As for the worst, Percival's return could rival that. But then the Rays might be smart enough to cut him before it gets really bad.Nevermind, its the Rays..
3/24/2008 8:43:52 PM
I guess I should get around to ordering the baseball package. Season starts pretty soon. But, money well spent imo[Edited on March 24, 2008 at 9:19 PM. Reason : .]
3/24/2008 9:19:11 PM

3/25/2008 12:34:00 AM
this was one of the first out of all of the 2008 threads
3/25/2008 8:07:32 AM

GET A NEW GOD DAMN CLOSER NOW
4/8/2008 1:22:17 AM
I was talking to some guy at the bar about this tonight... How I was sure Borowski would blow it, because he sucks... Seriously, how hard is it Tigers, Injuns, Yankees, maybe Padres?... You have better arms in the bullpen, fuck your closer's role; win games..
4/8/2008 2:22:50 AM

4/8/2008 2:31:03 PM
Maybe this Kobayashi guy should stick to hot dogs.
4/9/2008 5:44:27 PM

4/14/2008 10:38:37 PM
There was a time when I thought Sowers was the worst thing to ever step on the mound... ...Borowski has shown me otherwise.
4/14/2008 10:55:14 PM

4/14/2008 10:56:56 PM

shades of Jose Jimenez...
4/14/2008 11:05:02 PM
4 IP, 8 ER... 3 HRs for an 18.00 ERA. That's what you want. Although Betancourt isn't exactly lighting it up with his 5.14 ERA.
4/14/2008 11:49:37 PM
why the fuck did they pitch to manny? and IF you're going to pitch to manny, why give him something to hit? I knew it was gone as soon as it left his hands[Edited on April 15, 2008 at 9:54 AM. Reason : .]
4/15/2008 9:54:18 AM
