I just made a sandwich that I estimate was 4 or 5 inches high. I think it was too tall. There has to be some kind of golden sandwich ratio that will tell me the perfect height. Maybe you could take into account the strength of the bread. I used mushy Food Lion bread and it got squashed flat and had some ingredients poking through by the time I was done.

It's something you'd better learn if you ever want to land a man.

PS - The bread is key in making a mouthwatering dagwood.

open your mouth as wide as it can go. Whatever can fit in there best is your optimal sandwich height.

I had to do the thing where you bite the top half, then the bottom half because the sandwich was too tall for a single bite.

btw my sandwich was vegan. it was very healthy. I just got all excited and went a little overboard on the ingredients.

Ingredients:

avocado, tomato, onion, red pepper, carrot, fried tofu, spinach, mushroom, garlic, peanut butter, bread, lots of kosher salt

it was very tasty, and I challenge any meatatarian to try one and tell me it's not delicious

everyone is skeptical of the peanut butter at first!

if you make this sandwich yourself, be sure to use peanut butter where the only ingredients are peanuts and salt.

I can't imagine a sandwich without meat (besides pb&j). but your sandwich sounds sorta good. The peanut butter doesn't really seem to fit in though.

under no circumstances ever should peanut butter come in contact with onion or tomato.

I put the tomatoes right on top of the peanut butter layer, it keeps them from soaking the bread

yay! I'm glad someone likes my recipe. the tofu is really good. I cut 2 thin slices, salted them, and fried them up in a little olive oil until crispy. but use caution, that recipe yields a sandwich of 4 or 5 inches in height

The peanut butter just doesn't seem like it belongs. Mainly due to the onion, the garlic, and the spinach. If one was handed to me, I'd give it a try, but it just sounds...off. Delete the PB and it sounds pretty damn good though.

I'd say slap that bad boy on some toasted sourdough bread.

You forgot roasted almonds.

Things like that are why I make better sandwiches than you.

my favorite is a waffle ice cream sandwich...

waffles on each side, covered with peanut butter, honey, etc with ice cream in the middle.
