I need some help on the topic. Need an explanation as to how exactly I would need to run the tubing to make it fit/work properly.
11/4/2007 9:19:59 PM
look at the engine bay and figure it out mayhaps
11/4/2007 9:36:23 PM
if you don't understand how an intercooler is plumbed up, are you sure you want to try to tackle cobbling together a forced induction system?
11/4/2007 10:06:19 PM
it's not the easiest thing to implement on a roots style blower, but it's just like a turbo with a centrifugal setup
11/4/2007 10:09:03 PM
Might just want to pay someone to do it.
11/4/2007 10:12:56 PM
whatever you're thinking, dont go to Lowe's/Home Depot for your parts
11/4/2007 11:28:17 PM
how about year/make/model pal
11/4/2007 11:47:04 PM
2001 Grand Prix GTP. I'm actually decent with car stuff and I am just perplexed. Maybe I am over thinking it. I've got 302/346 at the wheels right now, but with what I have I still want more...and I know better than Home Depot and Lowe's. I'm gonna have someone bend some alum. for me to do the job.
11/5/2007 12:26:16 AM
Oh and Duke, shutthefuckup. I already have a forced induction system DA! Don't assume, it makes more of anass out of you than me.
11/5/2007 12:28:56 AM
then what do I know? go for it, dude!(but why are you asking simple questions like that here if you already know it all?)
11/5/2007 12:31:38 AM
I'm just curious as to where the plumbing ends up, that's all. It's air-to-air so, I know at least one tube will come out of the throttle body into the IC, but the other I am thinking would be the actual intake manifold. Can you answer that question?
11/5/2007 12:35:58 AM
I'm with ^^wait wait, if it's the factory roots type, it would have to be liquid-to-air intercooler, sandwiched b/t the blower and the intake manifoldor do you have a centrifugal installed?[Edited on November 5, 2007 at 12:49 AM. Reason : -]
11/5/2007 12:37:53 AM
^^ Where do you think the intercooler is getting the air from to begin with? You know, the air it's designed to...cool?
11/5/2007 12:58:25 AM
Call Phantasm and speak with Danny, he can do some pretty work some pipes. Mandrel bent of course. As far as the intercooler, do you have one or will you need that also?
11/5/2007 4:40:58 AM
11/5/2007 7:08:21 AM
11/5/2007 7:45:12 AM
the real question you should be asking you self is why would you be doing this to a grand prix? spend the money a good platform first...
11/5/2007 8:10:22 AM
^ftw.
11/5/2007 11:41:19 AM
^^
11/5/2007 3:29:31 PM
Most roots/screw type blowers use an air to water intercooler built into the intake manifold if you are trying to do air to air with one you obviously can no longer sit it on top of the intake manifold it must be supported elsewhere allowing a discharge pipe to be connected to the bottom and run to the air to air inter cooler then back into the throttle body then intake manifold etc. ( I guess you could still have the throttle body before the blower but i've never seen it done that way ) as they said before a centrifugal one you just take the discharge out around to the inter-cooler and back to the throttle body as you would a turbo.hope this helps, hope you're more mechanically inclined then you appear to be.
11/5/2007 4:17:58 PM
11/5/2007 4:19:21 PM
youre topping 300 at the wheels now without an intercooler? i smell bullshit. post what you have done to the car.
11/5/2007 6:44:01 PM
wasn't there some company making a kit to use the stock eatons sc's mounted like a centrifugal?
11/5/2007 8:26:47 PM
First off, they sell an air to air for this car made by cartuning performance. They also sell an intercooler for the supercharger that gets sandwiched.sumfoo1 - you are correct. and yes, the tb is before the blower...air filter -> throttle body -> charger....and to everyone else, the car is what I could afford in the sport car realm. I didn't have the option to "upgrade". I am working with what I have to work with and most people who don't have everything handed to them can appreciate that. Second off, i'll put it up against anything you guys have any day. I'm not saying it will win, but it will not be far behind. Everyone who has seen it expected a slow car, but we're surprised with the "push-you-into-the-seat" effect it actually has. No, it's not a new z06, but it will hang with mustangs and 350's all day long. For those wondering:3" pulley(some kr, but it's minimal)dhp programmed computertrue cold air intakemsd ignition & hotter wires+2 colder plugsfull 2.5" cat-back system(with no cat) and electronic cut-out valveslp headersintrax springs10.5psi max boost302bhp/346ft.lbs.top speed: 152mphAny more questions?Feel free to burn me some more, I love it.[Edited on November 5, 2007 at 9:12 PM. i reckon DHP really got your tune right.
11/5/2007 9:12:43 PM
i dont see anything on that list that makes a damn difference probably close to a $grand and maybe 3-4 hp, you sound like slownig[Edited on November 5, 2007 at 9:14 PM. Reason : and you cant have a post blower air to air intercooler on there]
11/5/2007 9:13:31 PM
11/5/2007 9:16:23 PM
^ gotta be an alias, there are not that many retards on the face of gods green earth
11/5/2007 9:18:10 PM
Do you realize how much horsepower difference there is between the stock 3.4" pulley and a 3.0" pulley on a supercharger?! I was running 7psi with the stock pulley and i'm now running 10.5psi...you do the math!Maybe you can understand these terms:Me(4400lbs/302hp) -vs- 07 civic si (2700lbs/232hp)from roll(20mph): ME, 15-16 car lengths in 1/4 mileMe(same) -vs- 01 Mustang Cobra(4200lbs/325hp)from roll(40mph): ME, 2 car lengths in 1/4 mileYou guys just don't understand. Put your money where your mouth is...
11/5/2007 9:23:26 PM
so you outran a civic and a mustang, am i supposed to be impressed ric0rz boy? [Edited on November 5, 2007 at 9:26 PM. Reason : dumbass]
11/5/2007 9:26:21 PM
I did this in a grand prix, with less power per pound. Both of those cars are quick and everyone is downplaying my grand prix. Figured it would be useful info. Anyway, like I said, put your money where your mouth is and i'll prove to you that it's more than you bargained for.
11/5/2007 9:31:55 PM
11/5/2007 9:33:37 PM
what color is your car?and where is the dyno sheet?
11/5/2007 9:34:31 PM
10.5 psi of boooosssttttt oh shit, i build more pressure in my digestive tract under a hard strain.I suppose there's something appreciable about decent levels of modding on a blown Grand Prix, but you know, you probably could have had a decently fast camaro/mustang for the same money invested.and yes, we all know where the fucking intercooler goes on a forced induction setup.
11/5/2007 9:35:33 PM
I had a lilttle done to my L67 and was hitting 11psi. With a 3.4 I might add.
11/5/2007 9:37:17 PM
I like your choice of car, GTP's can be nasty. My buddy has one with a smaller pulley and a 3 inch exhaust. It's pretty quick for what it is.
11/5/2007 9:37:53 PM
My car is white. I live in Greensboro(I was at NC State my freshman year), but I am around Raleigh every now and again.I will take anyone up on an offer for fun, but money is only involved at a drag strip.
11/5/2007 9:38:17 PM
11/5/2007 9:38:52 PM
Thank you Dave. I'm not claiming it's a "beast" by any means, but they are so downplayed it's not even funny.
11/5/2007 9:39:19 PM
11/5/2007 9:42:41 PM
DYNO SHEET
11/5/2007 9:42:58 PM
The dyno sheet is around here somewhere, but I still have no way to upload it. Lend me a scanner or a digital camera and you can have all the copies you would like.
11/5/2007 9:43:57 PM
my ass cheek dyno says [weak]
11/5/2007 9:44:58 PM
Im calling bullshit then.
11/5/2007 9:45:29 PM
pics or it didnt happen
11/5/2007 9:47:25 PM
Here's a copy of the stock dyno sheet from the shop where I purchased my car.http://x83.xanga.com/ef082730c8128143100762/b105746726.jpg
11/5/2007 9:48:12 PM
Noone wants to see a generic dyno sheet, we want to see yours showing 302hp.
11/5/2007 9:50:26 PM
looks like 275 to me
11/5/2007 9:51:15 PM
i know the stock cars have the tb before the blower but i didn't know if you would keep it that way haveing a miles worth of intercooler piping on the car.... doesn't seem good for throttle response.that being said... i could believe 300whp maybe i mean its what a 3.8 liter with 10 psi ? 300 should be possible with good exhaust and not to much drivetrain loss... but its prolly an auto right? and bbr if you think a cold air intake is anywhere close to an intercooler as far as cooling an intake charge is concerned... wow... is all i have to say. i mean i know you're good with part numbers and typical car problems but when it comes to fi you're a damned idiot, you don't know shit and you refuse to accept that.i think in this case an air to water setup with an air to water heat exchanger in front of the radiator will be your best bet... and if you make a reservoir you could even ice it for racing etc.
11/5/2007 9:51:18 PM
The recent dyno was done on 100 octane as well. No I don't run it consistantly, but it helps w/ the dyno tremendously.
