FYI She took 4th in her class of 10, not bad for an NCSU born and bred animal. She was used once more for a 4H judging contest and now is back on pasture at the beef educational unit where she'll be bred and (hopefully) calve around January or February of 2009.
Some of the other showmen nicknamed her "Clifford" because she was essentially a big red dog. Either way, she was a good heifer I could let my daughter learn showmanship on, so she worked out perfectly.

A heifer generally refers to a young female cow who has not yet had a calf (or sometimes one who has just had a calf is referred to as a "first calf heifer").
