11/2/2007 7:35:16 PM

11/2/2007 7:53:16 PM

11/2/2007 7:58:00 PM

11/2/2007 8:03:15 PM

11/2/2007 8:07:02 PM
Very good show.
11/2/2007 10:47:16 PM

AHA, another moment to mention my genius mother...She buys relevant and interesting lectures to listen to on the way to and from work. When she's done listening with her genius ears, she shares them with friends and family...I currently have the sets of History of the English Language and the History of Christianity sitting in the backseat of my car.By osmosis, I'm so much more informed than all you fuckers.

I've been listening to NPR since high scool. I played it every evening when I picked up my siblings from middle school, so that by the time they went to high school, they could pretty much name every host and regular reporter on the show.
11/3/2007 12:39:44 AM
bridget when are you going to finish your degree and get a job?
11/3/2007 2:32:59 AM
I haven't turned off the radio in my officeor changed the station from 91.5in over 5 yearsoh yeahand I'm a supporting listener
11/3/2007 7:00:50 AM
I used to think that NPR was the evil domain of latte sipping, self-important, metropolitan, left wing fruits.I mean I still do, but the reporting is far better than anything else out there.
11/3/2007 7:40:54 AM
Car Talk is the best thing on NPR.
11/3/2007 8:54:17 AM
you must be kidding me. 20% actual "Car Talk" and 80% annoying filler laughter.
11/3/2007 9:13:34 AM
better than 80% filler advertisments and human interest yawnfests.
11/3/2007 9:15:25 AM
I'm a total NPR homer. 88.1 and 91.5 are the only stations that I have programmed in the car They (NPR) did a piece on us when we paddled down the Mississippi River that ended up on Morning Edition. That started off all kinds of media contacts for us, and for that, I'll be forever grateful. I can trace a hell of alot of what I plan to be doing over the next couple of years back to that interview.http://sourcetosea.net[Edited on November 3, 2007 at 10:11 AM. Reason : .]

NPR is full of self important douchebags. I can't stand listening to it most of the time.Car talk is good though.
11/3/2007 10:18:59 AM
Car Talk is terrible and only encourages clueless yuppie dumbasses to screw with their cars. Diane Reams has a voice for print and the callers usually make me want to gouge my eyes out. A Prairie Home Companion and Wait Wait both suck enormous amounts of cock so weekends on NPR are basically useless. The Story is decent. Back Porch Music and the Thistle and Shamrock are excellent...when they're not begging for money, of course.
11/3/2007 11:08:26 AM
yea i cant fucking stand wait wait.the host is a prick
11/3/2007 11:12:25 AM
car talk rulesand i like prairie home companion because i'm 80 years oldwait wait annoys me now...i feel like the show used to be different didn't it?
11/3/2007 11:20:47 AM
I've really gotten back into This American Life again lately. Dude does a great job of producing those clips. I've love to take a bunch of our audio from the Mississippi trip and piece something together like that, but that would take talent
11/3/2007 11:33:05 AM
You fruits probably watch PBS as your only TV station too
11/3/2007 11:46:39 AM
i watch an assload of digital pbsi'm an american experience, antiques roadshow and charlie rose nut
11/3/2007 11:50:52 AM
I like some of the state history shows but "pay TV" has better programming in general
11/3/2007 12:01:36 PM
are you talking about network or cable?i pay for digital and one of the perks is the extra 4 PBS stations
11/3/2007 12:14:41 PM
11/3/2007 1:34:13 PM
^^All 5 of the NC PBS stations are broadcast over the air for free, although most are dead air during the day.
11/3/2007 2:03:54 PM
I am still pissed about them sticking On the Media in the basement of 6am Saturday mornings. Thank goodness for podcasts. Also, you guys should check out Radio Lab. Sadly, WUNC doesn't carry their show but you can listen to all of them on their site. Science Friday is also wonderful.
11/3/2007 3:00:12 PM
I swear I think I've heard Radio Lab on WKNC 88.1.
11/3/2007 3:38:11 PM
^^^ is that just for over the air? cause i've seen stuff on all of them during the day on the digital box^ is that the New York radio thing? if so, i've heard it too...like on a random weekday night at like 6 or 7pm[Edited on November 3, 2007 at 3:39 PM. Reason : +]
11/3/2007 3:39:03 PM
i like "Democracy Now"
11/3/2007 4:03:22 PM
Backporch music FTW
11/3/2007 4:06:47 PM
^^^ Radio Lab is awesome. This American Life plugged them a few months ago by taking a Radio Lab story as one "act". After that, I subscribed to the Podcast and have listened to them all. It's really, really good. They say it's on a limited run anyway, though. They are in their 3rd season I think, but they already have plans to stop at some point. you can listen to them right on their site, or subscribe to the podcasthttp://www.wnyc.org/shows/radiolab/i would describe it as kind of like This American Life (which i also really like), but not so sappy and without all the nasally hipsters. They take a theme or idea every week, like "Time" or "Morality" or "Space" and explore stories and interviews on that topic, but it's not like TAL where they get abstract in their story telling - they actually dig into a lot of science topics and talk to physicists and stuff.[Edited on November 3, 2007 at 4:09 PM. as long as we're quoting The Onion here (even though that one is not totally relevant...), coworkers has assured me this is probably the kind of manager i could turn in to
11/3/2007 5:18:23 PM
I love the onion.
11/3/2007 5:21:17 PM
yeah, i know. They are so accurate with their satire and parody in so many ways. Some of them are so relevant to a particular time, too. I like this one, from June 2007. If you read this now, it might be hard to figure out what he's talking about, or if you read it in 2 years, it will be completely irrelevant, but reading it in June 2007, anyone in the US would know what it was referring toHey, Wasn't There Some Sort Of National Tragedy A Few Months Back?http://www.theonion.com/content/opinion/hey_wasnt_there_some_sort_of

I'm a pretty big homer for This American Life. The creepy music they find for all of their segments...pro.
1/28/2008 5:05:37 PM
if you like This American Life, i'll plug Radio Lab again, which I talked about above
