some lady was drivin without her lights on on the beltline while it was dark/rainy this morning. i got behind her and flashed my brights numerous times but i guess i didn't get through to her.shit's more dangerous than busta rhymes.
10/26/2007 12:38:14 PM
The water won't hurt. The guardrail however...
10/26/2007 12:38:43 PM
GOLAZOGOLAZOGOLAZOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
10/26/2007 12:50:50 PM
^^^idiotsi'm telling you, it really should be a lot harder to get a driver's license, or not even so much that it should be harder, but you should be required to prove you actually know shit other than recognizing a few signs and knowing not to drive in the oncoming lane[Edited on October 26, 2007 at 12:51 PM. 10/26/2007 12:51:10 PM
the ditch is a good way to get around these guys
10/26/2007 12:52:00 PM

10/26/2007 12:55:21 PM
is it just me, or does NC have the worst drivers in the world
10/26/2007 12:55:58 PM
Jersey drivers are horrible
10/26/2007 12:56:23 PM
much like the "tree falling in the middle of a forest" debate, can you know people that are dead?
10/26/2007 12:56:30 PM
^^^it's just you.
10/26/2007 1:50:45 PM
Ha ha I just saw a wreck on western about 30 min ago.. i guess so hoe pulled out in front of a guy in a jeep... I swear you college kids really need to learn to drive...
10/26/2007 1:53:10 PM
or all the yanks moving south
10/26/2007 1:57:40 PM
I used to think that it was only southerners that had a problem driving in the rain.Until I moved to NYC. Its like the fucking apolcalyse every time it rains here during rush hour. Fucking forget about getting home on time.
10/26/2007 1:58:57 PM
I haven't been driving today, but to be fair when it's raining so hard that your visibility is severely limited you should slow the fuck down. Maybe not 40 under the speed limit, but I'm sure nobody was going 25 on the beltline.
10/26/2007 2:19:20 PM
10/26/2007 2:20:20 PM
10/26/2007 2:22:38 PM
Like I said, I haven't been out today, but I have been in rain where if you're going 70mph you will wreck.
10/26/2007 2:25:22 PM
The car wanted to hydroplane at around 75, so I was keepin it real at about 73.
10/26/2007 2:26:09 PM
10/26/2007 2:27:53 PM
In heavier rain, when I'm driving up a hill (FWD car) sometimes my front wheels lose traction...weird doing 65 on the interstate and watching my speed drop and RPM rise
10/26/2007 2:48:55 PM
i can't see so well in the rainand sometimes it starts raining after i'm already in the middle of a drive
10/26/2007 2:51:28 PM
10/26/2007 2:54:06 PM
more than a dozen motorists hydroplaned and crashed on highway 264 between greenville and raleigh yesterdayIf you hydroplane and crash, you will be cited for speedingI heard that on the radio yesterday
10/26/2007 2:54:46 PM
^^ my tires are fine.. just hydroplanes easily I guess

exceeding safe speed, perfectly legal. thats basic drivers ed
10/26/2007 3:02:24 PM
i agree, but that's what the reporter said
10/26/2007 3:02:25 PM
i dont think soif you're too reckless to slow down in the rain, you should get a speeding ticket
10/26/2007 3:02:58 PM
thats not the point, peopleyou can still hydroplane and not be speeding
10/26/2007 3:06:29 PM
that is the point. the speed limit is posted for ideal weather conditions. it is posted because according to some engineer somewhere and some politician somewhere else, that is the maximum safe speed during good visibility on dry roads. your responsibility as a driver is to maintain control of your vehicle by traveling at a safe speed, if you hydroplane you have exceeded the safe speed and thereby broken the intent of the speed limit if not the actual numbers on the sign.thats about as logical as it gets.
10/26/2007 3:09:46 PM
exactly"speeding" means traveling at a speed higher than you're capable of safely maintaining, whether that's 80 in a 65 normally or 65 in a 70 when it's pouring rainif you're too stupid to realize you're putting others in danger by driving too fast in the rain, you deserve the ticket
10/26/2007 3:10:05 PM
10/26/2007 3:11:06 PM
10/26/2007 3:11:49 PM
so you are telling me if im driving down the road, in the pouring rain moving at ~30mph in a 45 and crash my car b/c i hydroplane then i should get a ticket for speedingthat makes no sense to meif someone IS driving reckless and is really speeding then yeah, sure...give them a ticket[Edited on October 26, 2007 at 3:14 PM. 10/26/2007 3:14:34 PM
it'll either be speeding or failure to reduce speed to prevent an accident
10/26/2007 3:15:40 PM
10/26/2007 3:16:09 PM
Most people in NC are terrible drivers.
10/26/2007 3:16:46 PM
Isn't there a ticket for driving too fast for conditions? Because I think that's what it would be.
10/26/2007 3:17:07 PM
Yes, "exceeding a safe speed", that is the speeding ticket you're recieve, not "exceeding the posted speed limit."
10/26/2007 3:18:46 PM
we need to get deputy dog or another board cop to chime in on this one
10/26/2007 3:19:31 PM
In my rundown and once almost totaled (but rebuilt) 92 Camry I got rid of last year I drove slow as fuck in the rain. Now that I have a brand new Corolla I again feel like driving and weaving around slow people because I have so much more control of the vehicle
10/26/2007 3:19:52 PM
10/26/2007 3:22:28 PM
this reminds me:i was driving down wake forest rd last night in the left lane (of 3) and there was someone in front of me going under the speed limit (it wasn't raining at this point). i was getting a little frustrated and was about to pass the car, when he put on his left turn signal and started to merge over into the suicide lane.i thought to myself "this would be the sort of jackass who would start to merge right back over to the right just as i pass him". sure enough i start to go past the car, it wants to get back in my lane. not because he was going to take the wrong turn BUT BECAUSE THERE WAS NO SUICIDE LANE, THERE WAS A FUCKING MEDIAN THAT HE HAD DRIVEN RIGHT ONTO. i drove right on by because wasn't about to swerve into another lane of traffic because this jackass was talking on his cell phone while driving at night (the cell phone was seen by another passenger in my car).[Edited on October 26, 2007 at 3:24 PM. Reason : it might have been a woman, i never got a look at him/her]
