yes, ipod is superior to zune, and i won't dispute that...however, i just bought the ugly brown 30gb one from woot (as in, you can get one, too, right now) for $85 and i think that's a pretty good deal...it'll be a nice upgrade from my 4gb creativei DID search, but the threads that came up were pretty old, so i figured a new one was in order...i know that with the new firmware update, you can sync to the computer via wifi, but aside from that, i'm pretty cluelessyes, i COULD google, but i thought it'd be just as easy (and a bit less time consuming) if those of you who have the zune (or are significantly more familiar with it than i am) could tell me about any hacks, third-party firmware, etc. that exists for the gen1 zunes...for example, i'd love to use the built-in wifi to surf the internet, but i don't know if that's possible (again, i could google, but i'd rather just gather all the suggestions there and then research them based on how interested i am)another question - can i run h.264/mpeg-4 video on this zune? i'd love to get xvid copies of the movies i own and take them with me on trips[Edited on October 22, 2007 at 10:51 AM. I've been contemplating picking up one of these in lieu of actually putting a PC in my ride like I have been wanting to do for years now and haven't had the chance to do it.

no hacks worth doing yet. there a few tricks to make the zune software unknowingly convert it to a playable format but that's about it.
