according to cnn this is a good thing
10/19/2007 10:34:20 PM
fyi the air youre breathing is already 70% nitrogen
10/19/2007 10:45:14 PM
lol ok you got me but they were making it sound like a little bit of nitrogen added helps gas mileage and tire pressure
10/19/2007 10:48:32 PM
So if you crash into a lake, can you survive by breathing out of your tire?
10/19/2007 10:49:12 PM
its like blinker fluid and muffler bearings.
10/19/2007 10:54:10 PM
if you have a race car and your pressure has to be dialed in +/- 1 atm
10/19/2007 10:57:04 PM
well its true, proper tire pressure helps gas mileage BUT what helps tire pressure most is a driver smart enough to check their own tire pressure.

nitrous oxide on the other hand is not so good for your tires[Edited on October 19, 2007 at 11:10 PM. Reason : forgot my chem havent had in a few years]

^Lighter? Who gives a flying fuck if your car weighs a few pounds less on a scale if it still has the same inertial mass. If anything, the helium would work to reduce the normal force and traction.
10/20/2007 2:11:21 AM
^n00b lolnitrous oxide and rubber creates a very combustible fuel. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5226424/[Edited on October 20, 2007 at 2:23 AM. Reason : ]
10/20/2007 2:21:50 AM
^ WTF, I didnt say anything about nitrous.
10/20/2007 2:29:20 AM
what are you retarded? I'm responding to igor... This isn't a very long thread to figure who I'm responding to...
10/20/2007 2:34:01 AM
^^terminate
10/20/2007 2:42:54 AM
haha
10/20/2007 2:47:18 AM
man, i'll bet slowblack96 has some nawzzz in his tires, shit's fast and does BURNOUTS! haters.
10/20/2007 2:48:16 AM
naw dawg, he inflates his tires from compressed processed cheese cans...
10/20/2007 2:50:29 AM
nah, i think that's what he's been huffing.
10/20/2007 2:56:25 AM
please, he's high on wheat thins... And yes, I'm using the random idea pattern of family guy by looking around the room at things...
10/20/2007 3:04:32 AM
only benefit is that it leaks out slower than air, good for slackasses who never check their tire pressure.
10/20/2007 7:34:55 AM
i thought the benefit was no moisture and changes pressure less with temperature changes
10/20/2007 9:27:51 AM
PV=nRT P1+P2......=PtIdeal gas law and partial pressures, doesn't matter what gas it is or what mixture, it depends on the number of moles not composition for pressure increase due to temperature.Big load of bullshit.
10/20/2007 10:21:59 AM
they put nitrogen in tires because it is dry, as oppose to air. n2 is less affected by temp changes, since there is no water in it to alter its density at different temperatures.it's a similar principle why your car runs worse when it is humid outside. humid air is less dense than dry air (more lighter water molecules displacing heavier air molecules in a given volume), so your engine is getting less mass of air per volume at any given time. same reason why it runs like crap when it is hot outside. your MAF, ecu, 02 sensor and other indicators retard the timing accordingly.

hey guys why does my voice sound high pitch when i inhale helium balloons???
10/20/2007 11:02:49 AM
helium is where its at b
10/20/2007 11:04:15 AM
i put whatever chuck norris tells me to put in my tires.
10/20/2007 11:48:26 AM

10/20/2007 3:58:33 PM
10/20/2007 4:17:12 PM
10/20/2007 7:02:12 PM
Just put hydrogen in there.
10/20/2007 9:03:35 PM
I rely on compressed fartgas to fill my tires. The look on the tire changing guy's face is PRICELESS when he breaks the beads.
10/20/2007 9:54:20 PM
^ ROFL. I used to work at Party City and often filled balloons and exchanged cylinders. We had to chain the Helium cylinders down because they had so much helium in there they would float away. [Edited on October 20, 2007 at 10:36 PM. Reason : ROFL]
10/20/2007 10:36:34 PM
zomg is he srs?~
10/20/2007 10:50:45 PM
have any of yall ever put water in truck tires? it sure makes my tractors pull better
10/21/2007 8:14:01 PM
i've never tried it, but i know a lot of people run water in their front tires on off road only trucks. pretty much all of the pro rockcrawlers run water too. helps them climb a lot better and keeps the front end down.
10/21/2007 8:19:21 PM
^^ exactly how do you do that?
10/21/2007 8:47:31 PM
its not good for a steel belted radial tire
10/21/2007 8:52:13 PM
^^ you can buy a fitting that goes on a water hose. most people who do any kind of real work with their tractors put water in the tires.
10/22/2007 2:46:58 PM
apparently the new rubicons come with nitrogen filled tires
10/24/2007 1:17:03 PM
The patrol car i drive at work has nitrogen in it
10/24/2007 1:45:04 PM
my escort has it.
