For some reason, I can't get my surround sound to work on my xbox 360 elite.I have the video from the 360 being passed through the receiver via hdmi and the soundbeing passed via component cables through the receiver. It's frustrating because I'm pretty sureHalo 3 is SS but it only plays in the 3 front speakers. What's worse is that I just got Transformers on HD DVD and purchased the hd dvd player for the 360 and I can't get the movie to play in 5.1! Can anyone help?!?

The 360 only outputs 5.1 over hdmi and optical. It sound like a optical connection would be best for your setup.

i assume by "component cables" you mean RCA audio... component is for videosurround sound can't go over RCA... it only transmits left and right.you need an optical switcher.

yeah and if your receiver is over a year old it probably can't pull 5.1 over hdmi either

they currently use a format that's $100 cheaper, but will quickly turn around and move to another once current stock sells out.
