well you will be an engineer whether you like it or not after you get that degree. maybe not a practicing engineer, but an engineer of some sort.

Nah, engineering majors who double or minor in physics or another real science can grow up to be mad scientists.

smarter than moi?

you have to be a bad man to smarter than me.

if you have an engineering degree you are an engineer whether your job title or practices say otherwise.

I did it because I had too many goddamn books to fit in my backpack. Some in arms, some in pack.

And I was too fucking broke to buy a new backpack.

Not nescessarily, if you don't pass the FE and PE exams then that's somewhat like someone failing the bar calling themselves a lawyer.

smart and intelligence are easily confused. i see thugs off the street that are smarter than many people that i met in college, however the college student is more intelligent in their specific area of study.

^ you are still a lawyer, just not licensed!

naw bro i meant right what i said. education enhances intelligence. like the cia get a tip on terrorists, they learned, therefore were educated, that the terrorists are about the strike. then they use thier smarts to thwart them.

Hence the weak qualifier. In principle calling yourself an engineer without the certification is like calling yourself a lawyer without passing the bar exam. I said nothing about the legalities of practicing.

tr00

i passed it drunk

well, still drunk from the night before

even had to leave in the middle to vomit

which was interesting seeing as how you have to wait for an escort to leave your seat, it was a photofinish

(the employer whom I had accepted a job for doesn't give a flip about EIT certification)

If you graduate from an accredited program, the FE bullshit doesn't matter for "certification" purposes, though, as a bar exam does for lawyers. That's where your error was, not with the qualifier.

It was a nonsensical analogy.

you have to the bar exam to practice, but in principle you are still a lawyer, who is not eligible to practice.

but it's categorically wrong to say that all engineers need to have the FE to be certified
