Man! This thread makes me sad. I do not have thyroid problems but a few of my family members do and they eat very healthy and still gain a lot of weight. Some people lose a lot weight with thyroid problems. It depends if the thyroid problem is over-active or under-active.

that's been an excuse for a whilethere are medicines to help people increase their thyroid activity
10/17/2007 11:34:53 AM
SYNTHROID

overeating can regulate your thyroidIT'S TRUE

i've never understood this, regardless of thyroid activity...or anything else, if you take in less calories than you burn you have to lose weight.....right? granted, some people may burn calories at a slower rate than others, but that means you have to take in less as well.

But that'd be like starving themselves. It's unnatural and goes against their instinct.

Right. My mom doesn't even have a thyroid gland - they had to be removed. She takes medicine to make up for not having it. She's about to run a half marathon, but it's still extremely challenging to keep weight off. If you don't want to believe that "thyroid problems" can cause you to be fat, you're just an idiot.

At one point my mom lost a lot of weight due to a thyroid problem.

watch what you eat.its your health.its all in your head.im just saying, if you eat unhealthy, and blame a thyroid for you gaining weight.. then you have problems.[Edited on October 17, 2007 at 1:43 PM. Reason : ]

but it's in my jeans the fat that is.

thyroid problems or not, if you burn more calories than you consume, you will lose weight. if not, you will gain weight.i'm fat because i eat a lot of rich food and drink a lot of beer, and i don't exercise as much as i should.

10/17/2007 2:28:05 PM

10/17/2007 2:29:51 PM
^
10/17/2007 2:30:46 PM
you were kidnapped, strapped down and had fat injected into you
10/17/2007 2:30:52 PM
^^that's an explanation, not an excuse
10/17/2007 2:32:29 PM
^^i think that works
10/17/2007 2:41:42 PM
another is the freshman 15 not the college one, the one you get when you start addiction recovery
10/17/2007 2:43:26 PM
Freshman 15 + Addiction Recovery 15 + Just got a job and have a tight paycheck 15 = 45 lbs.
10/17/2007 2:45:57 PM
unless you wanna relapse, all you can really spend money on is foodor like museum tickets
10/17/2007 2:49:32 PM
TBH i can understand the freshman 15 (i had a freshman -5), just because you start partying & drinking beer a lot, and have a wide variety of food choices, so until you learn how to live on your own, its hard to control the unhealthy stuff.
