Looking to find good but affordable online place to buy a replacement wedding band. My white gold (el cheapo) band was lost at the gym a few months back.Bad experience: Bought a new Tungsten Carbide ring from Overstock.com, but when it got here, the ring felt oversized (I know I bought the correct size). What are your experiences with Tungsten rings? I returned it already, don't want to deal with Overstock.com again. Return process was long and gruelling.I've read good reviews about http://www.titaniumkay.com. You guys have any other recommendations?[Edited on October 16, 2007 at 3:28 PM. Reason : link]

well, in general my tc ring is awesome, 2 years and not a scratch on it. However, I work in construction, so its also one of the most dangerous types of rings to have. If it ever gets caught on anything, i can kiss my finger good bye. T

Tungsten eh? Well at least you will always be prepared to replace the filament in your light bulb if needed.

I hauled my Integra to the junkyard a couple of months ago.I forgot that my wedding band was in the glovebox. How appropriate, since I got divorced back in March, and that was the car I had when she and I started dating.

We just bought ours in Wilmington from http://www.tsbrown.com/. Prices are reasonable. For the stainless steel one we got, it included a manufacturer's warranty for sending you a new one if your size changes and things of that nature. Might be worth a few extra bucks to get one that has a warranty.

I got ours from Jolly's just before they moved from Cameron Village to North Hills. Everything was 20% off to reduce the inventory for the move. Very glad we went with platinum bands.

When my wife and I bought wedding bands last year we found that we could get pretty good prices at a local independent jeweler - Mark Andrews in Apex - nice because you're talking to the jeweler and not a salesperson. He basically ordered it out of his wholesale catalog, did good work engraving them, and we can get free resizing (I've dropped about 15 pounds, I may need it soon). I left thinking that this was a business best done in person rather than online.

I dropped close to a grand on a platinum band and my first day back at work after the honeymoon I fucking lost it.I bought a $100 titanium band instead. it's practically weightless, stronger than steel, and cheap. The downside is that if you hurt your finger and it swells really badly, they can't cut the ring off. I just make sure to take the ring off before working out or doing anything that has risk to my hands.

A friend of mine works as a doctor in an emergency room. She says that a few times a year, someone will come in who has been in some type of accident in which sever damage or swelling has occurred to the finger bearing the wedding ring.Normally, with gold, silver, or even platinum, they can use saws to cut the ring away from the finger in order to administer care. However, with these extremely hard metals, such as titanium and tungsten, the hospital has no choice but to cut the finger away instead of the ring.Probability of it happening to you is slim, but it is a consideration.Maybe with the popularity of these rings hospitals can get some saws that'll cut through tungsten.

better to lose a finger than to lose the symbol of eternal love for your wife.

^^ What backwards ass hillbilly hospital does your friend work at? I want to make sure I never go there for anything.

Most new rings are "comfort fit" which makes them feel larger than traditional fit. Basically the inside of the ring is curved so that the edges don't dig into your finger.

^^ Tungsten and Titanium are both hypoallergenic, and both are very durable. Titanium feels really light (put it in your hand and you can barely tell its there) but Tungsten has some weight to it. Personally I liked that so I went with the Tungsten.

I was looking for a ring for my fiance and went with an Artcarved Tungsten Carbide. I never really did figure it out but whats the deal with the nickel vs. cobalt binder? Some sites were boasting how great nickel was and how cobalt sucks, but some people are allergic to nickel and most jewelry markets don't even use nickel anymore. So anyone know?
