I think they cut down on the ability for scrap yards to take kegs... but it's probably worth trying... stainless steel was worth > $.50/lb and kegs are 25lbs ish...

i'd think if the keg was already destroyed though they'd take itthe cut down was in order to prevent people from being able to steal kegs from behind restaurants and scrapping them. also, keg deposits were $10 forever (dunno what they are now) and people would just eat the $10 to scrap the keg for like $40+[Edited on October 15, 2007 at 10:14 PM. with a big circular piece of wood, (or the top of an old table without the legs) these could make interesting coffee table bases
