I can't wait to play the game but I've read it's pretty short and the first 15 (?) levels are actually pretty easy.
10/10/2007 1:38:10 PM
how is it so far?]
10/10/2007 1:48:02 PM
I beat the last boss with 00:1:24 to go. I'd give it a 7/10... very cool ideas but the game didn't flesh out thaaaat well
10/10/2007 3:19:47 PM
Played for 4 hours, beat the game. Too easy. Piece of cake (no pun intended).
10/10/2007 4:17:07 PM
working through the advanced bonus levels now
10/10/2007 4:27:54 PM
i enjoyed it alot, need to incorporate this into episode 3 but have a whole part with it
10/10/2007 4:43:51 PM
Fun as crap! Wow...Could've done more with the ending, but I am definitely amused. I'll play through the bonus levels later. Right now it's time for cake dinner.PS: THE CAKE IS A LIE!
10/10/2007 7:10:41 PM
fun game for sure
10/10/2007 7:40:45 PM
I also noticed that there was a login written on the wall in that android training area. It was like cjohnson as the username, tier3 as the password. What's the deal with that? Before I just go and wiki for an answer, I mean.
10/10/2007 7:54:34 PM
http://www.ApertureScience.comfrom wiki:"Another possible login credential set revealed within the game is "cjohnson" as a username and "tier3" as a password. This login gives you access to the "NOTES.EXE" program which gives a humourous history of Aperture Science chiefly involving shower curtains. "

This game is so fucking original and fun. It has massive potential with the release of SDK for it. It almost freaks people out sometimes watching it.

I loved all of the dialoguethe game was cool, but the dialogue was worth the $19.99 by itself (I did not pay $19.99 for portal, I bought the orange box)
10/10/2007 10:40:14 PM
what will this game/idea do for multiplayer?hopefully it doesn't go the way of max payne's bullet time
10/10/2007 10:42:34 PM
Didn't see a thread for HL2: Episode 2, but I found the Travelocity gnome underneath the far right bed/shelving at the beginning of the game.

What is the purpose of http://www.aperturescience.com?Is there a correct phrase to enter?
10/11/2007 1:42:04 AM
i loved this game when I played "Narbacular Drop" a couple of years ago...the retail spit and polish is a very nice addition...had a lot of fun playing some last night
10/11/2007 11:19:07 AM
^^ i dont know what other purposes it had but I just randomly tried typing "login" and hitting enter. and it let me log in with cjohnson and tier 3.[Edited on October 11, 2007 at 11:25 AM. Reason : ]

^^^ Type login or user, with cjohnson/tier3, you get "Admin>" type list to see the available .exe's (i'm guessing) and type help for a list of available commands. When you do apply.exe on http://www.aperturescience.com/ you do a big crazy application form but I think it's impossible to finish, since your ID code (given to you at the start of the app) is long and changes.
10/11/2007 2:45:44 PM
^ Type THECAKEISALIE in the console once you've logged in.

God what an amazing game that is. I could not stop laughing at the end.SPOILER! i almost died fighting glados b/c one of his last balls was spouting out a cake recipe that i could not stop laughing at, i had to keep listening but i was running out of time lol
10/13/2007 8:52:30 PM
The cake recipe is also in the code on the computer screens
10/13/2007 9:25:24 PM
I seriously had about 1 second left on the last ball in the end. I am no good at trying to grab those balls in the air. The plot was kind of lame but I'm glad they spiced it up with clever dialogue and shit
10/13/2007 10:18:33 PM
OMG that song is stuck in my headits so awesome
10/14/2007 12:09:33 AM
SPOILERI didn't like the fact that even though there was "evidence" of humans (the writing, etc) there were no bodies. What happened to them? I would have loved to run into another person or even see corpses. So, I am guessing the computer killed all the people operating the plant also?
10/14/2007 12:24:26 AM
^5 To me the first ball was the funniest one, and I loved the turrets too......'i don't hate you'[Edited on October 14, 2007 at 12:29 AM. Reason : ^]
10/14/2007 12:25:18 AM
bought it and beat it tonightfucking awesome.
10/14/2007 3:37:12 AM
^^^The facility was evacuated. According to the website.[Edited on October 14, 2007 at 9:37 AM. Reason : activated?..]
10/14/2007 9:37:07 AM
Uhh, I thought they were killed because of the gas released? Which website are you referring to?
10/14/2007 10:30:20 AM
OK, lets get down the back story you learn through portal.VIA the powerpoint presentations in the offices.Aperture Science and Black Mesa were competing companies for government projects. Black Mesa was awarded every project is applied for. Aperture applied for many more projects and received none.At the end, the computer mentions that it is dangerous outside the facility and that it doesn't even know whats going on out side. Being that Portal and HL are supposedly connected, we can assume this is referring to the combine.I haven't beaten Episode 2 yet, so any other connection between HL and Portal I haven't seen. Although I think that new scientist might be from Aperture.anyway Valve rocks at life
10/14/2007 12:18:41 PM
aperturescience.com, intro.exe, said the facility was evacuated during the portal storm, most likely referring to the first hl. the end boss robot, glados(?), says they (aperture labs) installed the sympathy module after it tried to gas the facility (first eyeball thing). the combine (popular theory @ hl2.net) has nothing to do with aperture besides getting ahold of their portal technology fromspoilerthe freight ship that is seen in hl2 ep2, that freeman is going to go to in hl2 ep3.(intro.exe was deleted i am told now on 10/10/07.. another username/pass is supposedly hidden in hl2 ep2 that reveals the same info as in intro.exe)[Edited on October 14, 2007 at 1:54 PM. Reason : intro.exe]
10/14/2007 1:52:21 PM
There is a achievement to send the gnome into space VIA the rocket at the end of the game.Does this mean I would have to carry this thing from the beginning of the game all the way to the end????I looked around the rockets top lvl where that head crab goes into the rocket, but didn't see it there. Maybe its down below?Great game btw, the end is freaking nuts.
10/14/2007 4:22:27 PM
I assume this is not how they intended for me to beat the companion cube level:Stacked a few things up and just hopped onto the ledge
10/14/2007 7:47:45 PM
spoilersCould you not figure it out, or you were just dicking around? On a side note. I thought the game could have been fleshed out a little more with more levels, but after playing the advanced levels, there you can get a lot of very interesting ways of getting around hard problems. Even finding new ways of beating the normal levels. Especially Advanced 18. That is a bitch.Where do you guys think this game will go? It almost has to have a sequel given that its so fun. But, this game leads you out of the facility for this female character. The game has already linked up with the HL universe in episode 2. Either it could go the way of HL 1 and have multiple personnel in the same story arc, which could go with all the writings and hints. Or they could continue following the female character from this game. BUT, how do you deal with the portal weapon in the real world(even if it made it out of the facility). Also, the entire game is defined by being a lab type environment with crazy construction for optimal game play.I think it will most likely be something like another inmate after the explosion. We will see though.[Edited on October 14, 2007 at 8:16 PM. Reason : gg]
