I really need to say I'm sorry, but roses won't cut it.

I need rare/awesome looking flowers to say I care.

It needs to be something significant.

Any botany majors available to chime in?

Are there any local florists you would recommend?

I love their Dramatic Garden bouquet (under high style) and tiger lilies or tulips make most anything better in my book.

what did you do?

I get mine from the Fresh market in Cameron village usually. Good stuff for the price.

There is a local florist on Hillsborough street, near Melvin's I think. And there was also one mentioned earlier next to UT and Zaxby's.

Why not buy a bunch of pre-cut ones from like Harris teeter and make your own arrangments? There selection isn't too bad.

Those are irises^^ (which are a wonderful choice)

lilacs are more like these and smell heavenly:

^I always hit up Whole Foods or Fresh Market right after work. That is, for special occasions and the days when I've put myself in the dog house. Both of those places are good for a quick flower grab, but idk about exotic blooms.

the kroger at the corner of MLK and Raleigh normally has $15-$20 worth of flowers on "managers special" for $2-$5.

Flowerama
that's where my husband buys them. I've been very impressed

My favorite flowers are stargazer lilies. intoxicating smell

Whole Foods always has a nice variety with some unique flowers. I haven't been there in a while so i don't know what exactly they have.

I got gorgeous orange tulips yesterday just because

I personally like stargazer lilies mixed with red or white longstem roses.

guys- don't only buy your woman flowers when you screw up. Buy them "just because", if she's having a bad day, when you're out of town or haven't been able to see her in awhile...

there used to be a really great flower shop right on the corner of dan allen and hillsborough (I guess near where the Zaxby's is) I don't remember the name of it (found it...Johnson-Paschal Floral Co) but they always had a great selection
