Its an off year election, so nothing really hot in terms of political races. Mostly school board and city council races. But more importantly is our voter referendums. The biggest item is the bond referendum on parks (open space and green ways) as well as community colleges and libraries. I hope some of you will turn out to support this measure. Check your voter registration here (and find your polling place):http://msweb03.co.wake.nc.us/bordelec/Waves/WavesSearch.aspInformation on the candidates:http://share.triangle.com/node/9086Not to sway anyone's vote, but Mary-Ann Baldwin is running for a city council at-large seat. She has been one of the biggest supporters of turning the Dorthea Dix property into a city park and opposes some of the development interests already on the council. A vote for her is a vote for a greener Raleigh.[Edited on October 9, 2007 at 2:13 PM. Reason : .]

If you vote, consider voting for Kevin Hill for district 3 of the school board. He is active in NCSU programs, specifically NC Teach at NCSU, and he is a quirky, yet humorous guy. He has been in school administration in Raleigh for many years, and I know personally how dedicated he is to finding and training the best educators possible. In addition, he is by FAR the most highly qualified candidate for District 3, as he has multiple degrees from NCSU, and is an adjunct faculty member here. Smath74, you shoulda bought an alias to endorse a candidate. You may be a wonderful, trustworthy individual in real life. But on TWW, you're Smath, dude.I dunno if you have this outstanding reputation to base your personal endorsements on.

Smath came to TWW as a private citizen to endorse that candidate, not as Smath, Bridget

I wasted all my votes on third party candidates

^^i actually kinda sympathize with your argument against voting in national elections, but believe it or not, individuals can make a pretty big difference in local elections. of course you won't be voting because you live in charlotte.[Edited on October 9, 2007 at 4:08 PM. Reason : .]

^5 I voted for Helen Tart. She looks like she would be a good addition as well.[Edited on October 9, 2007 at 4:09 PM. Reason : do I need a stinkin' reason?]

^^Although you're well aware I'm not the biggest voter, I completely agree that these local elections can make a lot more of a direct impact
10/9/2007 4:09:39 PM
Also I'd like to remind everyone to only vote for a candidate who knows Dave, Juliet and the twins

I'll have to swing by after work. No way I was waking up before 11.

Most people in the NCSU area should have the Method Road Community Center as their polling place. Its's near where Beryl Road meets Method, near the Arboretum/ Waffle House/ Neomonde
