Not quite. My parents have lived here for about 30 years now, and they have seen worse droughts. They told me one year before I was born, the grass all died and the yard went to just clay, and then clay started cracking. Scary shit.

I'm pretty sure I've heard numerous sources say that this is the worst drought for NC in over 60 years. According to a recent N&O article, "In Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina and Florida, there has been less rain than at any time since records began in 1894." http://www.newsobserver.com/weather/stories/story/728740.html

That being said, one abnormally hot and dry summer in the 48,843 square miles that cover North Carolina is not a reliable climate indicator of the climate for the other 196,882,400 square miles that cover the earth.

climate is changing all over the planet. Sure its not getting drier everywhere because earth is not leaking but some places that don't need the rain are getting more and

[Edited on October 9, 2007 at 7:27 PM. Reason : lots of things changing, overall temp rising, ice melting]
