My girlfriend would really like a bunny and if anyone has one for sale or is giving one away let me know. She would prefer a baby rabbit.

there are a lot of babies here, and the adoption price is reasonable. Don't forget to spay or neuter your bunny.

Also, The Pet Pad at the corner of Kildaire Farm and Cary Parkway in Cary sells bunnies, some very small and cute, and they always have some

$100 for a rabbit ??

I used to breed, show, and sell rabbits back in hs. $25-$50 was the average price for a purebred show quality rabbit..

$100 is crazy

Check http://www.raleigh.craigslist.com
there's always a few rabbits posted that need homes. The ASPCA often has rabbits. Check online for some local rabbit rescues.

I would not suggest getting one at the State Fair. While there will most likely be some babies for sale - the animals there are exposed to A LOT and are usually extremely stressed out. Many develop upper respiratory problems or suffer from heat exhaustion/stroke (if it's hot out).

If you end up getting a male rabbit - neuter it. Males will spray in the house.
Females are usually more tempermental and can become territorial of their cage.

^ Considering the spay/neuter can cost $300+, a neutered rabbit for $100 isn't a bad deal. And it's also important to spay a female rabbit (not just males) because they have a very high incidence of ovarian cancer if not spayed.

^ Yeah, my spay was 360. I found other places that would do it for ~275, but I wanted to go to Avian and Exotic. Of course, spays are more expensive, but not threefold more.

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions, but apparently she's looking for a particular kind of rabbit. A lionhead dwarf to be specific. They look like little furballs. And as much as it hurts to say it, they're cute. I've looked at a few sites, and there seems to be a lot in New Jersey, which doesn't do me too much good in NC.

Again thanks for all the help so far.

I was just informed while making a few phone calls that if I happened to purchase a rabbit (happy duke?) that wasn't spayed or neutered, a place in Wake Forest can do it for around $100.

The place seems to be highly recommended.

There's a place in Benson that sells them for like $20. I bought one for $15 around Easter....they always have rabbits.

PM if you want the location.

^^ i take my pets and fosters to North Wake Animal Hospital.
They're a clinic. You don't have to make an appt for a regular vet visit (vaccines and tests).
If it's a surgery (spay/neuter) then you do need to make an appt.

They are VERY reasonably priced. The vets are great. I've seen Dr. Darsch and another vet (can't remember her name).

It's a bit of a drive but worth it
