I thought you kids in here might appreciate this.Thxu to some guy on the internetz for comparo pics.

The only things I care about are in-car view, fish-eye lens effect and driving realism. The cars (unfortunately) have stagnated on realism since GT4/Forza2/PGR3.
10/2/2007 12:42:31 PM
^ Realism might not have changed much, but they've added a lot more detail to the cars.
10/2/2007 1:03:53 PM
Only reason I purchased a PS2 was for GT3/GT4...... guess I better start saving for a PS3
10/2/2007 1:05:34 PM
^I'm in the same boat as you. As soon as they announce the release date of GT5 I need to start saving up for a HD TV and a PS3, lol.
10/2/2007 1:11:28 PM
^^Yep me too for GT4
10/2/2007 1:49:14 PM
I can't tell some of them apart. Most impressive.
10/2/2007 2:13:46 PM
so they look like the real thingfuck that noise, when are they going to show damage and have it affect the cars handling
10/2/2007 5:29:40 PM
I oughta start saving too. As soon as that comes out I'll be buying a PS3. Is there a release date yet?Very impressive looking...
10/2/2007 5:29:41 PM
i still wantmore tire smoketire marksrealistic soundmore realistic shadowing
10/2/2007 5:35:19 PM
10/2/2007 6:34:11 PM
I also bought the ps2 slim just for gt4. The only games I own are gt4, gta:sa, and tourist trophy. Yeah, gt5 would require some expensive purchases. Sony's OLED HDTV's just came out this week in Japan only, but perhaps by the time gt5 comes out, we'll have some nice 42" high res 3mm thick TV's here in the states
10/2/2007 7:09:58 PM
luckily my roomate had it....now i'll have to buy it
10/2/2007 7:12:47 PM
Hell yeah, also you can play a demo at bestbuy.
10/3/2007 4:08:55 PM
^ Is that for GT5 or GT HD?
10/3/2007 5:15:43 PM
GTHD is out now (only a demo version) the real thing got canned. We have to wait till Xmas 09 for GT5.Ferrari is going to be in, what about the other big 3? RUF doesn't count.
10/4/2007 12:52:47 AM
i dont even like video games or cars that much and i would want to have a ps3 to fuck around with this
10/4/2007 1:35:49 AM
^then why the fuck did you post in here?
10/4/2007 1:28:16 PM
Did you say Christmas 2009? You're telling me the release of GT5 is over two years away?? Damn...that's just ridiculous.Maybe not unexpected though...a little less than 2 years between GT1 & GT2, year and a half between GT2 & GT3, then 3.5 years between GT3 and GT4. So almost 5 between GT4 & GT5 fits.At this rate, if there is a GT6, it will come out for the Playstation 5 in the year 2020.
10/4/2007 2:16:11 PM
I wonder if they'll still be selling PS3's in 2009, or will Sony cut its loses and trash the whole concept.
10/4/2007 2:19:41 PM
2009? Where do you people get this stuff? There will be a downloadable demo on the 20th of this month. GT5: Prologue itself will be out December 15th in Japan and early 2008 in the US.[Edited on October 4, 2007 at 2:29 PM. Reason : -> : P]

About the damage, i read in an article in some car magazine a while ago where they interviewed the developers of the game. supposedly it would take just as long (or longer) to make damage on the cars as it does to model each individual car. im not too sure though because it was a long time ago when i read the article. they also said that they were going to probably release the game without damage, smoke etc. and then provide updates online like the xbox live update thing. (i dont have a ps3 so i dont know what the online system is called.) BUT like others have been saying im saving up for this system and game. gt4 was the only reason i have a ps2.
10/4/2007 5:15:54 PM
i heard that they do not have damage to cars because:they use real car that are sold in the game and companies who produce the cars do not want a video game featuring them getting worn out, broken down, fucked, up and broken.i heard in order for them to do that they would have to pay each company royalties and go through a process of having each damaged situation approved by the company.in other words it would be expensive as fuck. i believe thats why no games that feature real cars have realistic car damage etc.....
10/5/2007 10:10:20 AM
then what about forza that had real cars with real damagefrom its wiki page:

Though it was only on PC, Need for Speed: High Stakes had realistic damage, and it featured real cars. It was a bit simplistic on how it affected performance (this is a 7 or 8 year-old game I'm talking about), but the damage was definitely there. Try as you might I don't think you could roll the car though.
10/5/2007 10:38:35 AM
plus you could download thousands of cars for NFS4: HS
10/5/2007 12:25:14 PM
Man, I wonder if Sony itself will be around in 2009.... I mean, they suck, right?
10/5/2007 1:38:10 PM
10/5/2007 1:54:12 PM
all features mentioned above (all car brands, damage, tire marks, etc) are in GTR2 for PC. Not as pretty, though

10/5/2007 6:58:53 PM
11/28/2007 1:24:38 PM
^thats what I've been saying but the ps3 fanboys refuse to listen.
11/28/2007 3:15:26 PM
whats funny is i'm sure all of those cars started out in dimensionally correct cad files..and then had to be reverse engineers back into a digital format after they were made.
11/28/2007 3:33:07 PM
GT5 was never planned for December 2009. I say again, where do you people get this stuff? Every checkable source says TBA 2008. Prologue is coming out in February, and frankly will have as much content as any "full game". The actual GT5 release date is all speculation thus far, and has never slipped past the 2008 holiday season.May as well toss in some more pictures while I'm in here.
11/28/2007 3:42:26 PM
11/28/2007 4:38:21 PM
^But I should hope TBA:2008 does not mean the 2009 Holiday season. That'd be a little ridiculous. So I'm assuming that, were one to buy GT5rologue, then theoretically that person should get a discount on the full version when it appears? It would suck to have to pay $50 for Prologue and then another $50 for the full version...
11/28/2007 5:02:07 PM
If any of you guys have chipped ps3's for multiple regions, I can get you a copy here in Japan. They're on shelves already.
11/28/2007 8:57:07 PM
I think what they'll do with GT5 for Prologue owners is make it an add-on via the Playstation Store.
11/29/2007 2:08:21 PM
^this is sony. What they will do is charge you twice for the game because they know you will buy it twice.
11/29/2007 3:41:39 PM
So how many passes do you think it took to clean up those screenshots that much?
11/30/2007 2:07:27 PM
^^we have a winner.prologue is a fucking 50 dollar DEMO.and hell yes they are going to charge another 50 or 60 for gt5and unless it has damage, im not buying it.
12/1/2007 1:18:22 PM
If you have a ps3 nowcreate a new PSN account with the system language set to japanese then you can get to the Japanese PSN Store, where there is a demo of GT5 for download nowthe bmw 135i is pretty fucking hotalso the sti :>
12/2/2007 2:20:14 PM
