I think Andruw signs the one year deal. We have Tex back for a full year. Can Chipper make it through a full season without 30 days on the DL? Can we find a solid #3 SP? Will Hampton require season ending surgery before the season starts? Our window is closing FAST if we're going to win with Smoltz, Chipper and Cox again.

So how much would it cost to sign Cameron for? Say a 2 year deal...
9/28/2007 6:36:26 PM
for what it's worth, andruw has already said he will NOT sign a 1-year deal with Atlanta. He's going into free agency.
9/28/2007 8:46:32 PM
^meh, so long......let him go hit .220 somewhere else
9/28/2007 8:49:04 PM
^ my thoughts exactly. I liked him for a while. But this year... he blew...
9/28/2007 8:57:55 PM
No way Andruw gets more than $15 million a year after this disaster he called a season. If he does, I will I fucking hate Scott Boras. His bullshit line "The Braves are making millions in profits" as a reason that Andruw deserves $20 million a year is a joke. If the Braves are making profits, it's inspite of Andruw's horrible play. If he had just hit .250 this year and even .225 with RISP, the Braves would be in the playoffs (with more ticket revenue too).
9/29/2007 12:52:50 AM
As much as I hate Boras... i wish I had his client base and his job.
9/29/2007 8:57:15 AM
wow, thats a pretty old pitching staff
9/29/2007 9:07:12 AM
when will they release the 2008 schedule?

Posted this in the 2007 official thread, but figured it should go in here as well.No Andruw for 2008.http://atlanta.braves.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20071002&content_id=2245761&vkey=news_atl&fext=.jsp&c_id=atl

in schuerholz we trust
10/2/2007 5:34:25 PM
no more Braves on TBS.
10/2/2007 5:37:41 PM
^ Old newsTBS barely showed any games this year anyway. It's been hard getting used to not being able to see the Braves 120+ times a year, but TBS slowly worked the Braves out of their schedule the past few years and now AOL has given Braves fans one more "Fuck You" by taking them completely off TBS.I'd like to burn down the corporate offices of AOL-Time Warner.
10/2/2007 5:41:22 PM
A couple of you douche bags were arguing me and some others that Andruw should have been MVP over Pujols a few years back.
10/2/2007 5:43:32 PM
you mean in 2005?apparently a lot of those douchebags have voting privileges with the BBWAA because pujols barely beat out jones for the MVP
10/2/2007 5:51:01 PM
^^ Yeah because how he played in 2007 had a hell of a lot to do with how he played in 2005 Andruw basically carried the Braves to the playoffs in 2005. Had he hit better with RISP that year, he would have won the award over Pujols. Obviously Andruw sucked huge this year, but that does not take anything away from what he accomplished in 2005.
10/2/2007 6:11:53 PM
glavine told reporters that he probably won't exercise his option with the metshe has until friday to make a decisionlooks like it's either back home to atlanta or out to pasture for tommy
10/3/2007 7:09:52 PM
figures that tbs goes to hd right before they kick the braves off and i don't get fsn hd i don't think
10/3/2007 7:46:35 PM
^^ if they wont make him their rep again, i would hope for atlanta
10/4/2007 9:15:45 AM
random factoid:the braves all time franchise record is 9696-9717, 21 games under .50092 wins next year and we're over the hump!the mets only need 320 wins next year to break .500!
10/9/2007 12:52:03 AM
^ ha ha. Damn fucking 80s ruined the Braves overall record (except 82) kind of like the 90s fucked up NC State's basketball records.
10/9/2007 12:32:07 PM
that's a lot of games
10/9/2007 6:07:03 PM
3.5 more years of losing 80 games a year and we'll be the Phillies
10/9/2007 6:20:50 PM
First I've heard of this. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/7322496?MSNHPHMAThe Braves have a major announcement scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET.It's expected that longtime GM John Schuerholz is stepping down and being replaced by his assistant, Frank Wren.Schuerholz took over as GM in 1990 and the team won 14 straight division titles before struggling the past two seasons.

no john..........please don't go
10/11/2007 12:11:50 PM
he's staying on board as team president
10/11/2007 1:25:30 PM
^ that's good news. he'll still be involved in all the major decisions. Hopefully Wren has learned from Schuerholz on how to trade shit for gold at the trading deadline (I'm not necessarily talking about the Tex trade since that trade can't be fully evaluated for a few years).
10/11/2007 2:33:19 PM
word on the street is that schuerholz is preparing to take over as commissioner when selig retires in 2009, this is just the first step in that processi have no idea if that's even remotely true, though[Edited on October 11, 2007 at 6:25 PM. Reason : ]

...posted by Matthew Cerrone...The Tigers have acquired SS Edgar Renteria from the Braves in exchange for RHP Jair Jurrjens and OF Gorkys Hernandez.…clearly this is to cut salary, which would suggest a follow-up move will be made at some point during the off-season, such as signing a guy like free-agent OF Torii Hunter, or freeing up money to bring on Tom Glavine…Renteria has one year and $9 million left on his current contract, which also contains a club option for 2009.…there has been increased buzz from atlanta that the Braves could look to trade a player like Kelly Johnson to net a replacement for Andruw Jones, as well…either way, the Braves just freed up a good chunk of change, which is most likely targeted for some one…For more on Jurrjens and Hernandez, and other thoughts on the trade, check out Joe Hamrahi at Baseball Digest Daily.

i don't like itfire wren(metsblog is trash)
10/29/2007 4:07:03 PM
^^ I hate that trade. Stop making deal with the fucking Tigers - that Ledezma shit was a huge rip off. I was hoping Renteria would have brought a #3 type starting pitcher, but I doubt anyone is dealing SP.
10/29/2007 4:24:40 PM
ss escobar A-Rod
10/29/2007 4:37:47 PM
yeah, the best way to cut payroll is to sign arod to a $30m contract
10/29/2007 4:40:13 PM
I don't like that trade either...
10/29/2007 5:03:01 PM
u cant Criticize this trade right now. We have escobar who is more than qualified to play the ss position and has a lot of talent far as speed and hitting. These are two highly touted prospects in positons in which we are weak in. I wish we could have traded him for a Good 3 sp but their are not that many that are for sale. THis is a good move to free up the cap and hopefully we will sign glavin for a good price and maybe land mike cameron or tori hunter
10/29/2007 5:24:32 PM
[Edited on October 29, 2007 at 5:26 PM. Reason : double post]
10/29/2007 5:25:06 PM
so are the braves basically just saying andruw isn't worth as much as hunter? cause you know he'll cost about the same
10/29/2007 5:45:44 PM
10/29/2007 5:46:28 PM
I've read a few places we could be stockpiling prospects to turn around and make a deal for another starting pitcher. It would have to be a team that is not in need of a SS. You know Billy Beane is always looking to trade a starting pitcher since it seems they come out of the woodwork in Oakland. Hate to see Renteria go.
10/29/2007 6:12:08 PM
im tellin you jurrjens is going to be solid
10/29/2007 6:13:01 PM
I'll miss ya Renteria. You were a badass while you were here!
