Who's going to be there?Tickets are sold out, but if you still want to be a part of this AWESOME event (good beer & lots of people- you can't go wrong), they're still looking for volunteers. I've volunteered as a captain for the past two beer festivals & will be in Durham at the old ball park again on Oct. 6th. Sign up with a friend, or a group of friends, and hang out for a couple hours or all day... it really is a lot of fun. If you want to sign up to volunteer, PM me & I'll send you what you need.Hope to see lots of TWW out gettin' krunk! (I know I'll see a few of my professors there, atleast )

9/25/2007 1:42:18 PM
I'm sure free beer sounds good to somebody out there who isn't busy on the 6th.
9/25/2007 3:21:08 PM
if you're giving out free beer and kisses I might go
9/25/2007 3:21:59 PM

9/25/2007 3:24:15 PM
I'm going to the afternoon session.
9/25/2007 3:26:34 PM

9/25/2007 3:31:00 PM
as usual, working half and sampling the other
9/25/2007 3:32:21 PM
^^ are you referring to the NC Seafood Festival down in Beaufort? I used to attend that yearly when I was a kid... haven't been in years.
9/25/2007 3:35:36 PM

^ That would be awesome. Thanks.
9/25/2007 4:13:16 PM
I'll be there..."working"
9/25/2007 4:17:12 PM
what do volunteers do?because i like beer.
9/25/2007 4:42:55 PM
they do all sorts of things... but most open bottles & pour beer for a particular brewer @ the festival. sometimes there is a representative from the brewery, other times you're representing that brewery on your own... just giving away the beer they have provided for the festivalthen they drink the free beer at the volunteer orientation meeting Wed. night AND they drink at the volunteer party after the even & get free beer paraphenalia
9/25/2007 4:46:50 PM
sounds fun. how many volunteers per brewer?can you request a certain vendor? how does this work? tell me more![Edited on September 25, 2007 at 5:03 PM. Reason : ?s]
9/25/2007 4:55:12 PM
There are typically 1-2 volunteers per brewer. You can request a particular brewer & they will try to match you up... but it's first come first serve, and returning volunteers get priority... although I've never come across a brewer I really wouldn't want to pour for (ok... maybe one of the few organic beers... last one I tasted was like drinking soap :-P)

9/25/2007 8:47:56 PM
9/26/2007 5:34:53 PM
Bttt, people. It's tomorrow They don't have a list of the beers for this one, do they? I found the list of breweries, but I know for the Raleigh one they had a list of the actual beers.Though even if I had it I'd probably ditch whichever ones I'd planned to try anyway and resort to just wandering around like I did last time.
10/5/2007 11:07:24 AM
I'm going to be at this one:http://www.capcitybrew.com/octoberfest.html
10/5/2007 11:09:31 AM
If that one includes unlimited beer, you're getting a better deal than we are, since it's $10 cheaper and 2 hours longer.
10/5/2007 11:12:27 AM
Yeah it's unlimited beer, I know people who went last year. Capitol City Brewery is sponsering it - I don't think it's a money thing, more of a promotion. It'll be a great time - drunk girls everywhere

this was fucking amazing. i only signed up to do the afternoon session, but ended up staying the whole time and pouring for this brewery from Michigan, called King's Brewery. they are amazing. (they had the Mocha Java Stout, for anyone who went.) i'm totally volunteering next April in Raleigh, holy shit. SO FUN!
10/7/2007 12:08:23 AM
worked the evening, went through quite a few cansgood local stuff and strong michigan showing from founders and kuhnhenn
10/7/2007 1:11:46 AM
mmm Mocha Java Stout!! one of my favs!Great times!
10/7/2007 10:17:49 AM
It looked like several vendors had already run out of stuff by the end of the afternoon session. Maybe they were saving the rest for the evening, but a bunch of types were crossed out on their signs. I'm pretty glad we did the afternoon session.
10/7/2007 10:19:41 AM
they reserve a certain amount for both sessions^
10/7/2007 1:04:48 PM
King Brewery is from Michigan as well. Founder's had this DELICOIUS raspberry beer, called Blushing Monk, that was like 10% alcohol. It was so good, if anyone finds it around here let me know!
10/7/2007 1:23:51 PM
Kentucky Breakfast Stout, ftw.Oh, and the Creme Broule Stout was awesome as well.
10/7/2007 1:33:20 PM
^i tried the breakfast stout. it was very similar to the mocha java stout. and i heard that creme broule one mentioned a few times, but never found/tried it!
10/7/2007 1:41:31 PM
^^^^ I thought they did, but it seemed weird that they scratched them off on their signs. They couldn't really undo that unless they have a different sign for the second session or something.
10/7/2007 1:50:42 PM
This was so fucking fun. Actually poured both sessions this year and both were awesome, I was set up at moon river and then saranac.
10/7/2007 1:55:18 PM
the creme brule one was from a brewery that started with a K, the one that had the chicks in catholic school girl outfits pouring.
