For those that didn't get a hold of today's sports section:"We got beat in all phases of the game," O'Brien said. "We couldn't get off the field on defense, and we couldn't stay on the field on offense. We're not a very good football team. It's pretty obvious after today."..."They could have done whatever they wanted to today," O'Brien said. "We didn't tackle them, and we didn't stop them. When you get overwhelmed the way we did, it comes down somewhat to personnel. You can coach guys all you want, but if they are in the right gap with the right technique, and they get run over and miss a tackle, it means they need to be a better football player."...[Lineman Martel Brown basically said that they were able to make plays despite the Pack being in position.]...[Blackman said it was hard to stomach, and that despite us being fired up, we need to control the line better. He also mentioned that Evans played well, and that he needs more time from the O-line.]..."When you get beat, you get beat," O'Brien said. "And we got beat solidly."Discuss.[Article fragments taken from The Technician, 9/24/07]

To be honest, the clemson offensive linemen made our defensive players look like children standing next to them.

I love it that we finally have a coach that tells us how it is. Until...TOB: It comes down somewhat to personnelThen it' s I hope he comes out next press conference with some red shoes on and sugar coats everything.TOB: Our players are great. They missed tackles because our coaching staff told them to.[Edited on September 25, 2007 at 9:04 AM. Reason : -]

"These players played their fanny's off."
9/25/2007 9:11:59 AM
There were 57,000+ people at the game thinking the same thing and countless at home. I'm just happy that the one person who can do something about it is honest enough to admit it. O'Brien's first few years at BC were this way until he ran out the hooligans and had only the ones who bought into his philosophy. Until we get players who take responsibility for their actions (positive AND negative), and not blame some "non qualifying" loophole that had no effect on the game, expect to see and hear the same things from O'Brien.
9/25/2007 9:14:47 AM
One of the clemson players said they over prepared for this game.

if I can remember correctly our O-line has blown ass even since the Philip Rivers Days. What is killing us this year is that our defense is sucking too which in the past has saved our asses by keeping the other teams scoring in check since we always had trouble producing offense in the davis/stone era
9/25/2007 11:04:33 AM
this team will see its second leg of a double or triple bottom at the Louisville game.come November 10, we will be playing much better than we are now.
9/25/2007 11:06:38 AM
Philip Rivers had an outstanding O-line. Chris Colmer, Sean Locklear, Scott Kooistra, and whoever our center was (the starter and his backup after that knee injury) flat out dominated the line of scrimmage for both Running and Passing. there's a reason they went on to play pro ball.
9/25/2007 11:56:59 AM
^Shane Riggs would have been a guard and Jed Paulsen was the center. Paulsen never got the credit he deserved. He was solid.
9/25/2007 12:00:33 PM
I don't understand why people expect us to have a good year. We won 3 games last year, two on last minute touchdowns, the only other win was against App without their current beast of a QB. We also lost Tank Tyler, some seniors to the NFL/Bojangles and we lost Anthony Hill and Toney Baker to injuries. We have little to no freshman presence on the team to fill those holes. So, explain to me again how we have ACC caliber athletes? We were 2 dropped passes away from a 1-10 season with the one win being against a DI-AA opponent. Atleast Tom O'Brien realizes that.[Edited on September 25, 2007 at 12:13 PM. Reason : I'm a retard]

How is the discipline-oriented former-Marine Tom O'Brien supposed to instill discipline in undisciplined players recruited by Chuck "I Recruit Undisciplined Players" Amato?

getting beat by us was the humiliating partgetting beat on a lucky Daniel Evans floater to the endzone was the humiliating partthe only reason we won that game was because of the stupid clock rules that the NCAA implemented last season
