I just wanted some good ideas as to what to get my groomsmen? Im getting married in a month and want to get them something that isnt a piece of shit that will fall apart a month later. Ive had a key chain, watch and money clip, all ingraved, that I received in the past and they were worthless. If I'm goign to spend money, I want it to be nice. All but 2 of my groomsmen are huge into golf, so buying a dozen pro vs is out of the question.

groomsmen gifts? My old roommate gave me one but never understood why. This is definitely a new/odd tradition for me.

engraved flask? I got that one time and it was nice.

^Along the same lines, we gave our groomsmen engraved glass beer mugs and our bridesmaids got engraved wine goblets. I thought they were pretty cool and, unless they lied to me, so did the wedding party.

My fiance has received a knife and money clip, both of which he used. We are doing flasks and bow ties (that they have to wear for the wedding) and treating to golf. One wedding gave the guys gift cards to best buy.

got a nice engraved flask in one wedding filled with a choice spirit from the bachelor party in vegasat another the groom picked each of our favorite liquors and bought a bottle for each of us, then got a really nice glass that was suited for each. (hi-ball, mug, hurricane etc)both went over really well

When one of my best friends got married in Summer 2006, he got myself and the other groomsmen matching silk ties that we all wore to the wedding.

I got a set that had a knife and a digital tire gauge for the wedding I was in last weekend. Convenient for slashing someone's tires and then making sure they are at 0 psi I guess.I'd go flask as long as they drink.[Edited on September 24, 2007 at 2:51 PM. Reason : .]

Personally, I think anything engraved is a crappy gift. I hate getting engraved money clips, key chains, etc. Most people just put that sort of gift away in a junk drawer and forget about it.When I got married, I gave my guys ties (which they wore in the wedding) and Gerber pocket knives (a 2 knife set). I think all but one of them use the knives regularly.

i've gotten a flask and a nice pen...but a nice folding knife would have been sweet...
9/24/2007 3:10:15 PM
^^ties come with the rental tux dude.
9/24/2007 3:11:04 PM
I got a $50 best buy gift card. loved it.
9/24/2007 3:19:29 PM
Just get something for their wives/gfs so they will STFU and quit complaining that they had to go to your wedding
9/24/2007 3:23:06 PM
For my half-sister's wedding we got some nice fossil watches, girls got assorted jewelry. I believe some of the legal aged guys got flasks (that or it was just his brothers).
9/24/2007 3:24:14 PM
^^huh? women love going to weddings.
9/24/2007 3:26:51 PM
I got my groomsmen each a dartboard and a Big Lebowski t-shirt.
9/24/2007 3:28:52 PM
^moronThey have to get you cards, engagement gifts, wedding gifts, rent tux's, drive to the wedding, and you get them a fucking T shirt. Think about how much time and money they spend on you and you buy a fucking T shirt for them. You might as well have paid for a tattoo on them that said you were a fucking moron.
9/24/2007 3:53:30 PM
You can get refurbed ipod shuffles for $50 from apple...a buddy of mine gave them to his groomsmen and they loved them
9/24/2007 4:03:12 PM
I'd say a shotglass or flask with engraving on it would be best.

I got a money clip for one, didn't use that.A nice engraved box with a good knife for the last one, that has been a great thing at work to open up letters. You just feel manly for pulling that and cutting open something. For my wedding I got my groomsmen engraved silver boxes that held two deck of cards.

This is not to hurt anyone's feelings, but you really have to be careful about getting jewelry as gifts for bridesmaids. There is nothing worse than getting a piece of jewelry as a gift that you will never wear again, even for special occasions. Give the bridesmaids impute if you are purchasing jewelry.

As long as you know they drink, liquor-related gifts go over well. Also, as long as you know each person well (which I would hope if you're asking them to be in your wedding) you don't have to get them all the same thing, just so long as the gifts are roughly comparable in value. Definitely shows some thought went into it if you get each person something uniquely suited to them.
9/25/2007 10:34:10 AM
I'm cheap, not doing any of the stupid gift things. Then again, the parents are paying for the maid and man's outfits and we're not having any other attendants.
9/25/2007 10:41:10 AM
Sorry, that is what I get for trying to do two things at once.I think that is super awesome to pick up the clothing, even the special ties.[Edited on September 25, 2007 at 11:55 AM. Reason : k]

My dad gave engraved money clips for my parent's wedding.

I should add to this thread that picking out decent-priced tuxedo rentals will be appreciated by your groomsmen. For my cousin's wedding, I had to rent a $170 Calvin Klein tux from Cape Fear Formal Wear in Cameron Village. Needless to say, I was not pleased. I recommend a $100-120 rental from the Men's Wearhouse. They let you pick up or return at any location nationwide, which is nice for out of towners. They also have good prices (No, I don't work for the Men's Wearhouse).

My brother in law gave me a little signed 6x8 of Sidney Lowe framed, and everybody else got something along those lines (Roy for UNC fans, Jeter for Yanks fan, etc)

I got my groomsmen engraved knives and some type of funny t-shirt at my wedding. They all seem to like the gifts, but I'm sure the knives are buried in a drawer or somthing now. My brother cut his hand open at our rehearsal dinner with the knive I got him.At weddings I've been in, I've received cuff links (cool, but I've never used them), an engraved beer mug (my favorite of the gifts I've received), a money clip (never used), a credit card/money clip holder thing (never used), and an lighter (never used because I don't smoke). All were engraved with my initials.Honestly if you want to get them something engraved, go with the beer mug thing.
9/25/2007 3:22:19 PM
I gave my groomsmen, engraved Poker Chip sets. The nice heavy weighted ones in aluminum cases.
9/25/2007 4:22:13 PM
I've recieved an engraved knife that very quickly became my "dress knife". I use it, but not regularly. I still appreciate the thought.Beer mugs / shot glasses seem like good ideas . . . not so sure about a flask. You never run out of mugs, you don't need but so many flasks. A nice cigar? Maybe? Its going to wind up in the trash like most other crappy gifts but at least they get to enjoy it first.

This past summer my boyfriend (an usher in the wedding) got a painting roughly 10 x 15 inches big, painted by the groom. The groom painted something for each guy, tailoring it to the receiver's personality. So now we have it on the wall in the dining room and it's really nice. It's a good idea if you have the talent and the time.

^^ Cigars can be mad fun, I remember a wedding when the mother in law got a leftover cigar and started dancing with it in her mouth. Of course, she had already had a fifth of Grey Goose by then. They also make for really funny photos, I remember one where all the groosmen had cigars stuck in their mouths at funny angles and were striking poses for the camera.

at our wedding we gave the groomsmen a money clip engraved with their initials with a best buy giftcard clipped in itmy husband has received a jersey with his name on the back of his favorite baseball team (everyone got their favorite team)he's also gotten a wall hanging that says "alm's dugout"at a friends wedding, the groomsmen got shares of stock in one of their favorite things (like a beer company, or golf supplies or something of that sort)hope these ideas are helpful.

The beer mug I got for my buddy's wedding still gets a lot of use today. It's actually very nice cut glass...I think that makes the difference.

I got a nice crkt knife from my brothers wedding and I carry it all the time. I think it's a pretty cool gift, and something everyone can use.

I'm getting married next year, so looking at the link earlier saw this http://www.groomstop.com/swissarmycadet.htmlI like the alcohol ideas, but 2 of the guys in my wedding have given me alcohol related gifts when i was in theirs, and my little bro doesn't drink (yet)thoughts?
