So i'm a stat major with a math minor, and when looking at the classes I have left, about 1/2 and 1/2 being GER, and major courses. I see that a lotttt of my stat major courses are only given in the fall or spring, so instead of taking some stat classes my last semster here, I figure I should go ahead and do em all next semster. With that said, Id be taking 5 stat classes and 1 math (MA 325, ST 511, ST 422, ST 431, ST 432, and ST 445, 18 hours). The grade distribution for all of these classes doesnt make any of them look difficult so I think it is probably do-able. Suggestions....

i don't know. you're a stat major for a reason, because you probably like it or are good at it. taking a lot of GER classes at once puts you out of your comfort zone. maybe save one or two stat courses for the last semester. i studied abroad one semester and took only liberal arts stuff (engineering major) and by the end of the semester, i wanted so badly just to have to solve equations and think mathematically and not write any more essays.just cuz they are GER, it doesn't mean you'll enjoy just taking that stuff. plus, if you plan on using any of your stat stuff in a career, wouldn't it be nice to have brushed up on those skills before graduating, instead of letting them sit for 6 months and then having to rediscover them when a job starts?

^yeah, a lot of good points in there. im good at math/stat, and with the grade distributions looking good, i feel like it could be a really easy semster for me, and thats what im always going for each semster when i register, but thats some good stuff to account for.

I've heard ST 422 is pretty hardon a side note I took 325. It's a cake walk. There was one part with Oflusen that made me do a bit of hw, besides that it's easy. There are no tests or final exams. Just a few papers (extremely easy) and homework. What upper level MA classes have you taken, I've done 405, 407, 325, 408, 412. I'm looking into 437 and something else next semester. Any suggestions?[Edited on September 26, 2007 at 8:42 AM. Reason : ]

^what he said for MA 325. ST 511 will be really easy for you from what I've heard about the course. It's basically an intro stat class. ST 431 is with Woodard and he's really a good teacher. Not a whole lot of work is required there, two exams and a final, two written assignments, easy weekly/biweekly quizes, homework you don't have to turn in. ST 432 is with Arroway, another good teacher. Her class wasn't extremely time consuming either, but you do have weekly homeworks. ST 445 is not too bad either. Exams are a little weird though since you're doing programming on paper. ST422 isn't extremely hard, but time consuming. I'm guessing you have Gerig now, so you know the homeworks can take quite a few hours. I probably wouldn't take all of those at one time though. Maybe you should save one or two stat classes and take a GER requirement for credit only or something if you want to take 18 hrs.

as far as my high level math classes go, ive only taken MA 410, and im taking 405 right now. Apparently I didnt know what i was getting into with 410, thought it would be super easy, espically based on the prereq of 1 yr of calculus. but i worked in the class and made out with a B. 405 is a joke, right now atleast. this current semster im in MA 405, ST 421, ST 435, and then comm and geology. nothing has been overwhelming at all yet, except of course having tests in all of them all in the same week.

That's my problem this semester is teachers just keep giving everything at the same time. MA 410 doesn't really seem it will be that bad.
