This is how that tensioner is supposed to look SUCKS
9/15/2007 1:52:42 PM
that sucks man
9/15/2007 4:40:20 PM
Who built that motor?
9/15/2007 5:04:28 PM
a shop in maryland (MA Motorsports)are you pointing fingers at the engine builder? I'm pointing at that POS plastic chain guide[Edited on September 15, 2007 at 5:12 PM. Reason : ]

(was that) a single cam ka[Edited on September 16, 2007 at 2:55 AM. Reason : .]

it's a dual cam
9/16/2007 9:07:40 AM
oh yeah the chains love to rub though that shit at about 150k or so almost happend to my 95 but the head gasket blew first. good luck on the rebuild man.gonna do the ka again or rb that son bitch
9/16/2007 3:56:22 PM
KA again The engine was rebuilt maybe 1500 miles ago with aftermarket 9:1 pistons (stock rods because they can handle the POWR), but that tensioner probably IS over 150k old. Just took some new pics; I'll upload in a minute
9/16/2007 5:42:03 PM
who the hell builds a motor and doesn't replace the tensioner or guides.nice IC mounts.
9/16/2007 5:46:24 PM
yes, these valves are seated as far as they can go[Edited on September 16, 2007 at 5:56 PM. Reason : ]
9/16/2007 5:54:08 PM
well you have it all torn apart now. might as well do it right this time.
9/16/2007 7:04:40 PM
those valves aren't bent, not at all
9/16/2007 7:10:50 PM
what's wrong with those valves?/n00b
9/17/2007 3:25:09 AM
they're bent. when a timing chain/belt breaks or loses tension on an interference motor, the pistons hit the valves.
9/17/2007 3:31:38 AM
i think the valves hit the pistons. discuss
9/17/2007 4:08:22 AM
skipping the tensioner is always a good way to save some $
9/17/2007 9:54:08 AM
there is nothing to discuss.the end.
9/18/2007 10:39:41 PM
just need new pistons and valves. thats it/[Edited on September 18, 2007 at 10:48 PM. Reason : http://www.handcraftedracing.com/][Edited on September 18, 2007 at 10:49 PM. Reason : call joel]

and my a new timing chain w/ tensioner this time around..if its in the budget i guessare those arp studs and is the upper middle fully seated[Edited on September 19, 2007 at 1:33 AM. Reason : ~]
9/19/2007 1:30:21 AM
may have come loose during tear down
9/19/2007 5:52:34 AM
yeah they came loose during teardown.those $texas pistons are staying yes, timing chain and tensioners are in the budget. forget Nissan's official timing chain kit though. That thing is $500+ and includes all sorts of random stuff including valve cover/spark plug gaskets, waterpump, cam gears, thermostat, etc
9/19/2007 9:09:58 AM
throw some D's on that bitch
9/19/2007 12:16:46 PM
^^ you mean it includes all the parts you need. and WTF you are keeping the pistons? better pull them and have them checked out first.
9/19/2007 3:45:45 PM
i've definitely thrown motors back together that have had pistons bend the valves, but not ones i cared about.
