i saw it. it was ok. but the whole joke is that wasn't "fearless" jet li's last action flick?sellout

my understanding was that fearless was his last "martial arts" movie. Meaning no more asian martial arts flics with morals and shit. Just action movies similar to the stuff he's already done in America. Kiss of the Dragon, etc..Fearless, Hero, Curse of the Golden Flower, House of Flying Daggers, CTHD, etc. are along the lines of what he meant by "martial arts" movies... the real stories/main focus in them are love, family, understanding, martial arts, etc., not so much the fighting itself. The fighting is in some ways used to further the story. In American action/fighting movies the story is usually just there to allow the action/fighting. Few actually have good stories, they are usually all out action\fighting with crap stories... or alright stories supported with comedy (lethal weapon, rush hour, bad boys). The stories themselves are usually mediocre. Some may say it's the opposite with what he was referring to as "martial arts" movies. I think the movies like CTHD and what not had good stories behind them and focused on the stories. There is also a far different feel to them artistically compared to action movies.I can't really think of any american martial arts movies that are actually good stories. On topic: not interested enough to see it at the theater, but I'll catch it on dvd[Edited on September 14, 2007 at 4:21 PM. No the point of this thread is that the N&O made a funny mistake. It's not playing there.

ehh... not THAT funny. But I get that it's not the kind of movie that typically plays there.God, do you work there? Maybe you'll know anyway. A while back there were 2 movies there that I think I wanted to see;the first was about a boy who found out his real mother was still alive or something like that and goes off on his own to find her. Do you know what it was called, and was it any good? The second, I don't remember exactly. I think it was an italian movie, i may be mistaken, and i think it was called The Gift or something close to that... sound familiar at all? I don't even really remember what it was about, just seem to remember wanting to see it. It would have been a few months ago.

Thanks, you got them both. I'll check out The Italian, and that's probably why I thought the other was an Italian film, I think they were both there at the same time. The other was the Ultimate Gift, but I'll take your word that it sucks and avoid that one unless it's on TV or something.
