Got an Intel motherboard that won't turn off the power supply. Fresh install of windows xp: windows shuts down properly, the hard drives all turn off, but the power supply keeps running. This is the second power supply and both have had this problem. Machine runs perfectly otherwise. Ideas?

Well, I was going to respond, but I don't know anything. Maybe I'll know something by tomorrow

It's definitely good to come off as an asshole when asking for help.

Make sure your computer isn't just going into standby mode (S1). That pretty much sounds like what it is doing.

Hold down the power button when it's running like that for about 5 seconds and see if it actually turns off. If it does, hurrah, it's just your computer going into standby mode.

If not, wtf, your computer has aids, and I and other TWWers would like it if you would destroy it.

(Although seriously, if it isn't standby mode, the power button thing doesn't do anything, then perhaps your motherboard is fucked up and sending the wrong signals to the power supply when the system shuts down, it's a remote possibility I guess.)
