So I'm through the first 4 chapters of "Bowls, Polls and Tattered Souls" - the book that Stewart Mandel (SI.com) wrote about college football. I have to say it's a very interesting read and answers a lot of the questions people probably pepper his mailbag with.Chapter Titles:One Nation, Under the BCSPulling RankHe Won the Heisman?FireMyCoach.comWhat's the Deal With Notre Dame?Invasion of the Recruiting GeeksHow Boston College and Clemson Became NeighborsTonight, It's the MPC Motor City Car Care Credit Union BowlThat's Great, Now Run a 40Everybody Cheats - Just Not My SchoolI'm pretty sure that everyone at one time or another has though Mandel is an idiot - that's what you get when you're a national beat writer. But he gives some pretty good insight into various topics that always seem to be the center of controversy. Anyone else given it a read?Definitely recommended.[Edited on September 13, 2007 at 1:38 PM. Reason : .]

He's my favorite College Football writer and I can't wait to read it (I keep putting it off).

Mandel called Chuck Amato the worst head coach in college football last year and in retrospect he was right. That book sounds interesting...
