Gonna be real ironic when one of the buyers wrecks it and dies because they can't handle that much car...

It reminds me of that Vector W2 from the 80's. It's not ugly by any means, but 20 years from now it will look hellaciously dated with those choppy lines. Such is life I guess.

Yes, because the stealth fighter looks dated and ancient now.

Yes, because the Diablo looks like it belongs in a 80's apocalyptic sci fi flick.

Yes, because F40 and F50 both scream "ancient."

You guys are terrible when it comes to design.

I just don't think the hood of a car should have more angles than a geodesic dome.

You don't know what you're talking about if you can't even understand why this design won't stand the test of time. This car does not have any sleek and sexy lines. Nor does it have a burly look and a muscular stance.

Like I said, it's not ugly. Twenty years from now you won't hear anyone talking about how beautiful of a car it is either.

While I like it, I prefer the regular Murcielago, which I think, is the best looking supercar even to be made, and that ever will be made.

BTW, while Reventón is the name of that bull, it also means blown tire in Spanish

http://www.autoblog.com/2007/09/12/did-lamborghini-blow-it-with-the-reventon/

Quote :
"As many commenters have noted, the Spanish name of the million-euro Lambo, Reventón, is a bit of a surprise. The accent over the 'o' changes the stress, but it apparently doesn't change the meaning of the word in Spanish: blown tire. As one reader wrote, not exactly the right name for a car you plan on driving at 300 KPH. Yes, Reventón was the name of a bull that killed a toreador, like Murcielago was the name of a 19th century bull. But "murcielago" also means "bat" in Spanish, and "espada," also Spanish, means "sword."

In fact, Spanish seems to be the language that comes up most frequently in these delicately-named situations. Nissan made a car called the Moco, which means "snot." Chevrolet made the Nova, which, of course, means "no go." Mitsubishi still sells an SUV called -- not in Spain -- the Pajero, which means "wanker" in the, uh, more literal sense. Then there was the Mazda Laputa, which we can't get into on a family web site. Same goes for the Lexus LF-A, which caused one wide-eyed Spaniard we know to say "They need to change that name.""

For those who speak Spanish, what does "L-FA" mean (the sound when you read those 3 letters)?

Here is a great gallery:

While I realize you were being sarcastic, I feel the need to state that the F40 is one of my favorite car designs of all time.

I actually do find the Reventon very attractive, especially in that particular color (which emphasized the connection with the F-22). However, I can see some merit in the arguments that it won't stand the test of time. While the cars you mentioned have aged very well, whoever brought up the Vector W2 also has a good point. It looks like the '80s design that it is.

BTW, why the hell is it gonna be $1.6 million????

Does that body really cost the extra $1.3 million over a regular Murcielago?

Or is Lambo just SEVERLY GOUGING the buyers of the 20 models to be built?

Quote :
"Recent reports indicate the car will cost nearly $1.6 million — significantly above the Murciélago $300,000 MSRP. In fact, anyone who wants the car has been asked to put down a deposit of nearly that amount.

Lamborghini will only build 20 Reventons, with all being spoken for. 11 of the 20 cars will be U.S.-bound. "

if you are a person who likes function over form, you'll dislike that the zonda can't be driven on normal roads. the lamo is able to cross odd angled driveways and speed bumps by raising the suspension.

that's key.

exclusivity. plus carbon fiber ain't cheap. of course it isn't anywhere near mclaren f1 territory.

Does it really only have 4 throttle bodies, or am I missing something? And for a million and a half bucks, I think I'd want more than 650 hp.

It's a stunning car, but for the same money you could get a Bugatti Veyron and a Ferrari F430 and still have enough money left over to buy yourself a nice sensible Mercedes or BMW as a daily driver.

^ excellent point.

btw, here is the background story of the pics above:

http://www.worldcarfans.com/9071123.007/lamborghini-reventon-takes-on-a-tornado

Lamborghini Reventon Takes on a Tornado

Quote :
"The Ghedi (Brescia) military airport was the setting this week for an extraordinary acceleration race between a Tornado aircraft [A200-A] provided by the airbase, and the Lamborghini Reventón driven by an official Lamborghini test driver.

The fighter pilot and the Lamborghini test driver challenged each other on the 3000 m-long runway.

The Reventón took the lead in the first leg of the race, but the Tornado caught up in the last few metres, taking off and flying over the Reventón that was going at a speed of over 340 km/h."

Note: 340 km/h = 211 mph

Bugatti Veyron and Shelby Ultimate Aero are closer to what I expect from a modern $1 million + supercar. I think Lambo was just going for style and exclusivity with this car, seeing as how they only added 10 hp, but I wouldn't pay that much for either style or exclusivity.

I think at about 700,000 dollars I'd take 2 ultimate aeros, seeing as how they're the fastest production car at the moment. And 1100 + hp sounds about right .

Lamborghini is full of shit charging this much for the car. Its not even a match for some cars costing 1/2 as much.
