OMG Ernie its TORRY HOLT.If you don't say its Holt then you are an idiot.Nobody outside of NCSU would say that Torry was the most dominant WR ever.

Honorable Red-Tinted mention:Torry "Big Game" HoltJerricho Cotchery
9/12/2007 3:33:44 PM
I think you can say Randy Moss. He was a beast while he was at Marshall.
9/12/2007 3:34:49 PM
Raghib Ismael was pretty impressive for Notre Dame. And I hate the Irish. (The team and the people.)
9/12/2007 3:36:57 PM
For everyone on this board I think we can limit it to WR's from 1990 on instead of ever. With that said I nominate
9/12/2007 3:45:37 PM
Seriously ^ Charles Rogers was damn good. Didn't he set the single game record for WR yardage?I think my choice would be Larry Fitzgerald, even though he only played 2 years at Pitt. V Yeah you are right. He turned out to be squat in the pros for Dallas. [Edited on September 12, 2007 at 3:53 PM. Reason : Bryant was good in college too though]
9/12/2007 3:47:12 PM
^Sure you aren't thinking of Antonio Bryant? And it was after our one-man defense got injured.
9/12/2007 3:51:28 PM
Pretty sure Troy Edwards has the single game receiving yard mark at something recockulous like 406. But I think a good argument could be made for at least the following 5RogersWilliamsMossJohnsonFitzgeraldand many more I'm either forgetting or are too young to remember.WR isn't judged like the QB position where wins and losses play a big factor, so its more a matter of personal opinion between those 5 and others.
9/12/2007 3:52:44 PM
a little virginia bias but herman moore was sick in his day.
9/12/2007 4:06:31 PM
Desmond Howard and "Rocket" Ismail
9/12/2007 4:11:32 PM
Larry Fitzgerald, just on the basis of him coming so close to winning the Heisman. On a side note, if a QB is not from USC, they shouldn't be considered for the award.
9/12/2007 4:12:20 PM
Larry Fitzgerald, because he still managed to score a touchdown in almost every game he played in despite defenses trying to shut him down.
9/12/2007 4:17:46 PM
Best JUCO WR corps ever: Chad Johnson and Steve Smith (the Panthers one), Santa Monica College.[Edited on September 12, 2007 at 4:22 PM. Reason : .]

no doubt in my mind it is this guy:
9/12/2007 4:35:12 PM
i mean this guy:
9/12/2007 4:36:06 PM
9/12/2007 4:40:59 PM
9/12/2007 4:51:17 PM
holt. he was pretty much the only good player on his entire team and even beat a great florida state team by himself. sure some guys may have looked better but i guarantee all those guys played on dominant offenses with great qbs and possibly great hbs other wrs tes and everything else (ie warrick, howard)If Holt played on the Weinke FSU then this would be clear as day.
9/12/2007 4:59:37 PM
either mike williamsorrrrrrrif Calvin Johnson would have had a good QB to throw to him, i believe he would have been truly the greatest.
9/12/2007 5:13:25 PM
since i've already been called a homer numerous times i am hesitant to mention this but i'll do it anywayIF HE HAD STAYED 4 YEARS, Koren Robinson might've been one of the all time greats
9/12/2007 5:14:48 PM
^^ which makes what he did do all the more spectacular
9/12/2007 5:30:24 PM
^^ That is not that far fetched because he would have been here during Phil's sophomore and junior seasons and also would have had J-Cotch on the other side. What a fucking prolific offense we could have been.
9/12/2007 5:32:50 PM
that pic of Mike Williams...is that where he caught that TD pass with one hand? bc i still consider that catch to be the best I've ever seen
9/12/2007 6:27:20 PM
^yes...he was unbelievable...no telling what he'd be doing in the NFL this year if the NCAA hadn't fucked him into the false sense that he, as a sophomore, could go pro, and then changed the rule after he had declared
9/12/2007 6:30:25 PM
Mike Williams doesn't deserve to be in this debate. He was a product of one of the most prolific offenses in recent memory, but not the dominant force behind those offenses. The guys who I remember taking over games and being unstoppable were Holt, Fitzgerald, Desmond Howard and Calvin Johnson. Holt and Howard did a lot of things besides just catching the ball. Fitzgerald and Johnson were more pure receivers in college.
9/12/2007 6:32:43 PM
#1 WR to play at State is KRob, not Holt
9/12/2007 6:36:27 PM
#1 based on what? Potential? Holt's statistics and records are better than Koren's, and he had Jamie Barnette throwing to him rather than Rivers. You must have never seen Holt play while he was at NC State if you thought Koren was more dominant. Holt was straight-up nasty, not just in the receiving game but also running reverses and returns.[Edited on September 12, 2007 at 6:55 PM. Reason : 2]
9/12/2007 6:46:48 PM
sigh.once again, it was never about who had the best statsit was who just couldnt be stopped for a particular time that you saw him play, no matter what the defense did, that ONE player couldnt be stopped, to me it was (not just WR):1. Herschel Walker2. Calvin Johnson3. Bo Jackson4. T.A. as a freshman5. Robert Edwardsdid Rickey Williams have better career stats than Herchel and Bo? yes, did Ron Dayne? yes. Thats not the point. Do some play in a more prolific system and therefore have better stats? yes. All I am saying is out of the people I saw play, these were the top five that no matter what the defense did at that time, you couldnt stop that particular player. Maybe the defense could stop the rest of the team, or the QB, but not that player. Has nothing to do with wins, or pro performance or anything else[Edited on September 12, 2007 at 7:03 PM. 9/12/2007 7:02:04 PM
were you even old enough to watch herschel walker? that was like the early 80s
9/12/2007 7:04:07 PM
^^that's too complicated for idiots to understand because it requires actually watching the games and having a good sense about how football is played.stats FTW[Edited on September 12, 2007 at 7:10 PM. Reason : sdf]
9/12/2007 7:05:17 PM
^ I know hahaha^^ yeah, my first football memories were him and Tony Dorsett's 99 yard run, obviously I didnt know shit about football at the time, but it always stuck with me how you couldnt stop his monster ass

^is that some mississippi valley state?there could definitely be a case for rice...since he was getting reported on while he was playing at MISSISSIPPI VALLEY STATE. he had nothing there...imagine if he had gotten an offer to one of the UTs or ND....otherwise i say its Desmond Howard. Without Howard, does Lloyd Carr ever win a National Championship? Wasn't it the Howard team that won it in 97?[Edited on September 13, 2007 at 12:42 AM. Reason : howard]
9/13/2007 12:41:19 AM
Howard was a great in 1997but my favorite Heisman winner was Eddie George in 2003
9/13/2007 12:50:31 AM
i thought desmond howard was with the packers in 1997 or something like thatok, i looked it up, he played for green bay that one year they won in 96, then went to oakland..^^you are prob thinking of the do it all Charles Woodson, who i still dont think should have won the heisman that year...Ryan Leaf, even though he blew in the pros, made washington state good and prob should have gotten it[Edited on September 13, 2007 at 1:02 AM.
