Its an interference engine isnt it??
9/11/2007 9:03:02 PM
no, it's non interference.[Edited on September 11, 2007 at 9:12 PM. Reason : duh, was thinking about the probe 2.0...]
9/11/2007 9:07:27 PM
who says??
9/11/2007 10:41:23 PM
nope says them http://www.theautoshop.com/timing.html#FORD
9/11/2007 10:46:52 PM
YEAH BOYYYYI picked this up today for $used cell phone [Edited on September 11, 2007 at 10:52 PM. Reason : literally]
9/11/2007 10:52:16 PM
paid$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Bitches
9/11/2007 10:58:51 PM
says me ho. i've worked on a few of those shits before. fwiw, most late model ford motors are non interference.
9/11/2007 10:59:39 PM
Thats nicer than the Mini van I picked up last month for $100 that need a trans
9/11/2007 10:59:45 PM
i think he said that thing needs a head gasket.my sister drives one just like it as her beater/dd/kid hauler.
9/11/2007 11:03:18 PM
That would suck if it needed a head gasket. I know mine needs a trans
9/11/2007 11:08:18 PM
i thought it was head gasket, but no cross contamination, and the motor has no compression when spun over... overheated then died. im gonna pull the timing belt cover and inspect but i suspect bomba de agua and el belto.hell if it needs a head gasket, the complete headset is $65. and ive done these before, nice and easy.
9/11/2007 11:08:54 PM
Werd, nice score either way
9/11/2007 11:12:26 PM
hmmm that's pretty odd to have those two things happen at the same time though, unless the overheating was a pre existing condition. i hate to bring a worst case scenario, but i hope this isn't what happened:-head gasket popped w/ no cross fluid contamination (coolant to cylinder only)-dumbass ran it so hot the cam siezed and snapped the belt
9/11/2007 11:18:18 PM
9/11/2007 11:47:17 PM
yep... i've seen in happen on a 4cyl. volvo and on one side of a 3.2 v6 isuzu. coked the oil and siezed the cam to the bearings.[Edited on September 11, 2007 at 11:55 PM. Reason : .]
9/11/2007 11:55:04 PM
with the price of junk so high, he could sell it for scrap and probably do all right.
9/12/2007 4:53:21 PM
little to no compression, timing belt is still in place and intact, wtf is going on here. hmm going to pressure test cooling system now if i have the adapter
9/12/2007 7:03:13 PM
oh that shit's leakin
9/12/2007 7:21:17 PM
timing belt jumped? if it does it bad enough, that can cause no/low compression on some motors. i assume you also verified it's actually turning the cam?i've never seen a hg lose compression on all cylinders... i guess it's possible if you really beasted one then kept driving it hot.[Edited on September 12, 2007 at 7:30 PM. instantly after making that post i went to autozone and looked up the timing belt shit, and checked it. it was off BUT setting it didnt change anything. So back to the drawing board.

My brother in law had one. He put a hole in one of the pistons. Motherfucker spark-knocked so bad prior to all this happening...evidently, knock sensor wasn't doing a damned thing.
9/12/2007 9:48:38 PM
9/12/2007 9:56:35 PM
I bet you got holes in all the pistons. Or the ring lands have no more land to them.
9/12/2007 9:57:54 PM
are the piston tops in this engine relieved or smooth? memory tells me they are relieved, but i used to drink a lot and got the swiss cheeze memory, so i cant be sure.
9/12/2007 10:00:10 PM
I'd bet a jelly donut or twenty that they are relieved. Hence non-interference on this one.
9/12/2007 10:08:41 PM
cause in the plug hole and it looked relieved.
9/12/2007 10:17:07 PM
so shit, ill have to pull the head just to see if thats the problem or not?this car was taken well care of, little to no bildup in the engine, only 124k.
9/12/2007 10:44:38 PM
I can't see it being much else..and zxappeal has spoken so it's probably what it is
9/12/2007 10:46:16 PM
it'll be one of the wilder things i've ever heard of if that's what it is. i sure as hell can't come up with anything else though, unless they just melted the head gasket out of it running hot.[Edited on September 12, 2007 at 10:50 PM. Reason : .]
9/12/2007 10:49:49 PM
dude, you and i both know you dont have a dog in this fight. so with all due respect, which is more than i will give 92% of other tww garagers, will you please shut the fuck up?
9/12/2007 10:49:56 PM
is the crank or thecam broken.
9/13/2007 5:18:11 AM
your a fuckin idot
9/13/2007 8:02:37 AM
^^ god damn you're a moron.ever figure out what it was?
9/13/2007 9:20:26 AM
9/13/2007 1:11:44 PM
I did some PI work, big up to jim rockford for the lessons, and got the mechanic at the shop it was originally taken to to tell me the truth about the diagnosis. Ill pick up a headset this weekend.
9/13/2007 7:36:26 PM
Ha HaRookie
9/14/2007 12:02:32 PM
hehe this thing is on its way to the official beater thread
9/14/2007 1:12:20 PM
so i'm assuming the other dude confirmed it being the head gasket if you're buying a headset...? i want to see pics of that gasket if it's dropped compression on all 4.
9/14/2007 1:31:33 PM
Cut the roof off and use it for a truck
