Wondering if anyone would have any idea what i would expect to pay to get a tranny (new or used) put in my 2k grand am v6. Its dieing.

Im going to call around tomorrow, but want to know how much bullshitting they are doing.

If anyone wants to shadetree this bitch...Ill consider it.

I know a clutch swap typically costs around $300 for labor where I live, so I assume its about the same procedure as a tranny swap. For the transmission for my car I see used ones go for around $300 to $600 from private parties I'm sure the dealer would want about a grand for a reconditioned one.

Yeah, I replaced the transmission in my 90 corolla for around 500.

Yours is newer, and I'd expect to pay anywhere from 800-1800, depending on what you get and who you pay to put it in.

My first car was an 89 Toyota Camry and the tranny crapped out on it twice. The first time we took it out and had someone rebuild it for a couple hundred. Shit broke about a year later and got a working tranny from a comparable Lexus from a junk yard for $50 and promptly sold the bitch.
