2.26ghz, 1 gig of ram, 120gig SATA drive. CD/RW +DVD drives. Three extra hard drives, 40 gig, 80 gig, 120gig. I haven't been able to boot windows to the SATA drive (but run ubuntu off it), others have worked. Everything would be as is, and hard drives wiped clean. I have no idea if I should throw it away/donate it, or if it'd be worth trying to sell...Ahmet

i could see you getting rid of it for $200
8/26/2007 11:02:50 PM
Really, on here? Know anyone?I kinda wouldn't mind donating it, but w/an illegal copy of Windows or Ubuntu loaded on it, seems like an odd proposition...Ahmet

Wow- I don't know about $200- but I'll start out real bidding at $20. You could probably donate it too, but finding the right organization for that can be tricky sometimes.

Last year I tried to give away a 19" monitor, and couldn't for the life of me. I don't want to deal with any more desktops, and I'm not sure that I want to try explaining what's going on with all these hard drives and whatnot to an organization either. So, on power up, the computer is picky on what combination of drives is installed in it. I'm currently running it with 3 hard drives, two cd/dvd drives, and an extra hard drive sitting on the side not powered. It boots/runs no problems, but it will be sold with clean drives like I said, and AS-IS.Ahmet

are the hard drives separate or with the computer?
8/27/2007 2:57:56 AM
I'd go $40

I've got 3 IDE hard drives (40, 80 and 120gb), 1 120gb SATA, one CD-RW and one DVD drive. You can think of it however you want. All of these can't be installed in the computer at one time, you'd have to leave one out. Actually, come to think of it, I think there's an IDE slot on the SATA controller (which is a PCI card). I suppose w/an IDE cable, you could have all of them working at the same time.Ahmet

So you're saying the SATA drive doesn't boot windows but works in all other respects? What kind of video card?Is this a system you built, or bought and then added extra drives to?What kind of RAM?(I am interested if you couldn't tell)

ill go 45 on this assuming it works great except for the OS problem

I built this computer some time back, I believe it's got samsung DDR ram, but not positive.I'm saying that I haven't been able to install Windows on the SATA drive, but I have installed (and run) Ubuntu off it. Yes it works fine. It's hooked to a PCI SATA controller, which I'm sure is why I haven't been able to get Windows to install on it. The motherboard does NOT have native SATA controllers. It's running a Nvidia Gforce2 card with either 128 or 256 megs of DDR RAM.Ahmet

do you happen to remember exactly which P4 it was like, what the code name of it was? and what motherboard you used? agp or pci-e?
8/27/2007 8:13:52 PM
i'll go 46 sight unseen.[Edited on August 27, 2007 at 8:37 PM. Reason : i'll get it tonight.]

Ofcourse it's AGP, this is a descent computer, I just don't want to mess with it anymore. The processor is I believe Northwood or something like that. I remember the 2.20 was out, and I had to wait for two weeks and grabbed one of the first 533 FSB 2.26ghz ones in the U.S. My, my... How times change.Ahmet

8/28/2007 2:27:29 PM
