Is that stuff any good? I have a slow leak in one of my tires and deciding on whether I should use it or not.

Just suck up 15 more bucks to get it plugged.
8/24/2007 10:29:23 PM
$15 for a plug? Try learning to read directions, buy the cheap-o kit from a gas station and do the shit yourself

Just suck up 15 more bucks to get it plugged patched. It's more reliable, not knockin the pluggin but I'd trust it more, especially for a pricey tire.
8/25/2007 12:08:45 AM
yeah I meant to say patch, not plug. long day at work Do not plug, I don't trust plugs as far as I can throw them.
8/25/2007 12:10:40 AM
tires are a place where i never fuck aroundget it fixed right
8/25/2007 12:40:32 AM
Yeah, fix-a-flat works great.Use the whole can though, let some air out if need be not to over inflate, then drive for 10-15 mins at least so it spreads evenly.[Edited on August 25, 2007 at 1:19 AM. Reason : .]

then when fix-a-flat does NOT work like you say good luck finding a place to patch it. If the fix-a-flat works then great. Otherwise be prepared to buy a new tire. Yes, technically, you could patch a tire after fix-a-flat but it requires so much effort and cleaning nobody is going to do it for a reasonable price. Plus want to know a quick way to piss off a mechanic? Don't tell him there's fix-a-flat in your tire then watch him pop the bead

Why does nobody trust plugs? I've never had a problem with them. Sure I'd be hesitant to run 150 mph on a plugged tire, but they seem to hold well otherwise.

if you get plugs, make sure you get the thick kind. if you get the skinnier ones, they will leak.ive tracked my car with a plug in it. they do hold up if you know how to install them, which im sure everyone could figure out.and with fixaflat, when you spray it in, you gotta make sure you drive the car so the crap can spread inside the tire or else its gonna start shaking because they will dry up on one side

8/25/2007 6:20:09 PM
I have plugged a lot of tires with good success. If you do it right, they'll work fine. Don't plug sidewalls, though.
8/25/2007 6:34:57 PM
^ditto if you use plugs with a lil slim too that works rly well also. PBR FTW

ahaha yeah dude, you're doing big things in life being the manager of a fucking QUICK LUBE. please. what's even more pathetic is you trying to pass the place off as yours. you're like that guy that takes his job way too seriously as the day time manager at mcdonalds.for the original question, don't use fix a flat. it only works about 50% of the time, and you're putting a dangerously flammable/combustable product in there. a lot of reputable shops won't even touch a tire that's had fix a flat put in it. the ones that will mess with it charge you extra to clean it all out. just take the thing somewhere and have it patched properly.

I ran over a nail, took it to the service station on Western across from campus, guy removed the nail, plugged the hole, put air in the tire. 5 minutes and $5 later I was on my way. Tire worked fine until I had to replace it a few oil changes later. How much does fix-a-flat cost?
8/28/2007 10:26:29 AM
couple bucks per can
8/28/2007 10:28:00 AM
if you put fix a flat, make sure you dont take it you "your" mechanic. they will hate you when all that crap gets all over the shop.or at least let them know
8/28/2007 10:29:11 AM
I plug my own tires and never have a problem with it before. As long as you know what your doing a plug will work just fine. You can buy a plug kit for like 8 bucks and it should have like 7 plug strips.
8/28/2007 1:46:01 PM
Just take it to Discount tire, they'll do it for free.Keep fix-a-flat in your car if you're on a trip or something. Otherwise, just get it patched.
