It's a 2000 Chevy Blazer, push button 4-wheel drive. It's been in 2 high all along, and Thursday the 4LO light started flashing when I was driving, then it would stop. All weekend and week it has been doing it more and more. Tonight, on my way back to Raleigh, it flashed almost the whole way! So, when I got home, I pushed 4LO and nothing would happen. Then I pushed AUTO4WD and it went into 4LO. Now, it won't come out of 4 Low!! (Its in 4wd, but the light is still flashing - it will not go solid) I disconnected the negative battery cable, and all it did was actually let the 2HI light flash, but not go into gear! I know it can't be anything too major, and I need some advice or some help, anything anyone wants to offer!

Thanks in advance!

I have taken the 4 wheel drive switch out and disconnected the wires, then hooked them back up, it didnt do anything. Im thinking (hoping) that the switch is faulty.

are you in raliegh? if so i could look at it sometime for you, on pimpmaster69's jimmy it was just a bad switch, but they are complicated, linear shifter on the t-case with a position sensor, a lot of stuf that can screw up, thats why i bought my 01 chevy with a manual floor shifter for the t-case, those problems have plagued the pushbutton ones for years

[Edited on August 21, 2007 at 11:59 PM. Reason : hang on a sec and ill tell you haow to rig it into 2wd]

I never put much thought in having either a manual shifter or a push button, I just finally found a Blazer with 4wd and had to have it! Not literally, this one had everything else I wanted, and I wasn't going to let one detail mess it up. Live and learn, I'll know better next time, I guess!

Yes I am in Raleigh! Do you happen to have a diagnostic tester, too?

vacuum solenoid is bad or the switch is faulty.

seen both on a friend's blazer.

take the switch out, jump the brown wire to the gray wire with the black stripe with a paperclip or the like on the plug, start the truck, it should shift into 2hi, then leave the switch disconnected until you can get a new one, like i said, i can't be positive without looking at it in person, but its about 1 99% probability thats what it is, and if it does go into 2hi properly by doing then above, it is definitely the switch

my grandfather had an autotrac bravada for a while, 2 transmissions, 1 computer, 3 transfer cases, and 2 sets of tires under warranty, NVG233 electronic transfer case was a huge piece of shit

As Lucky1 said, it is fixed! Thanks SO MUCH for your advice!

It only cost me $40 too! I got it from the Chevy dealership, Auto Zone was going to cost more and couldn't get it until tomorrow.

^^^^ Hey now! Its not like I was 4-wheeling and screwed it up!

i dunno, women are pretty good at breaking stuff because the majority don't understand how things work. that said, there is a large percentage of guys that are just the same.

Hay...In 18 years lemme get those digits. I'd get them now, but people tend to move and get new numerals.
